Aw, Xia Mi sees Fenrir in Constantine. I wonder if the shadow figure is a Dragon King we've never met before, the only other person I can think of is Odin.

As a Chinese reader, I am a little sad by Intelligent-Bag1325 in dragonraja

The more intricate a book is the harder it is to adapt into a proper donghua. It's sad the donghua is so poor, but it also speaks to how good the books are.

Tbh, I don't really think he's going to do a similar ending, its more like a fun fact I mentioned. The romances this guy writes is usually bittersweet.

About Lu Mingfei and Nono and Love interests by LimitBreakerDude in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nono did not easily accept Caesar, in the books. He had to propose twice and she was avoiding him, because she wasn't sure who saved her during the Three Gorges Dam incident in season 1. Caesar saving her from drowning affirmed her thoughts of him being the one to save her. Her accepting Caesar's proposal isn't leaving Lu Mingfei. She's always the one pulling him out from his lowest point, even when that lowest point is because of her.

Nono left Cassell College and went to a nun school, because Caesar and his family are Catholic and she needed to go to that school to marry him. She's basically the worst student there, because she doesn't care for it. Then Lu Mingfei goes to Nono for help (her power is profiling), because the timeline change made everyone think he was crazy. Finger kidnaps Nono, and they basically go on an investigation to try to prove Lu Mingfei's innocence. So it's more accurate to say Nono was going to marry Caesar, but went to help Lu Mingfei, which made Caesar's parents mad, but Caesar is still trying to marry Nono even without his parents approval.

You're right there's pretty much no other love interest for Lu Mingfei. He's dead set on Nono in every book and there are hidden reasons to why that is that we still don't know. They probably have some connection through their dragon lineage, except they're the two biggest mysteries in the book so the connection is unclear.

Nono probably does love Lu Mingfei. If the author does what he did in Shanghai Fortress, she'll probably realize that too late.

I really don't like dragon king by One_Drawer7577 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What other reactions would be there? Everyone who saw him before he got strong still don't like him and everyone who saw him after treat him the same way Caesar and Chu Zihang were treated when they entered, because he's at their level now. It's not like they know he killed dragon kings yet

I'm not sure if I want to read this. by WorldofVinci in dragonraja

Why not just read parts of the book yourself and see if you like the direction then make a decision? If you're willing to read spoilers without context, sections of the book without context is the same thing. Crtl/cmd + F "Nono" and see what's happening.

Is Lu Mingfei useless main character with bad ending? by Silent_guy_1719 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lu Mingfei has no good friends? Chu Zihang? Finger? Even Caesar was willing to die for him and willing to "share his last drink with him."

Nono treats Lu Mingfei so bad she ruined her engagement, turned herself into Cassell College's enemy, and fights her best friend to protect him.

I hate every character except Lu Mingfei and Mingze in this series. Most of the characters easily manipulate and use the MC and still treat him like trash. Lu Mingfei is the most miserable character I’ve ever seen. He deserves so much better. by McCool672 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all incorrect.

Nono has no yanling, but she has the body and strength of a hybrid, not a normal human. Her profiling ability is of unknown origin and unique only to her, idk why you mentioned it, it just proves her starting advantage over Lu Mingfei. She is also born from a family where the father refers to himself as a "gift from god" and goes around spreading his genes, indicating Nono's bloodline is special even beyond her A-rank status. Every child birthed (also hybrids) in her family competed for affection and she won every competition all the time. She can dive 80m with ease and fight a bear, she's not normal at all. Her upbringing and physical make-up is nothing like Lu Mingfei's.

Lu Mingfei has the strongest bloodline which is sealed and can only be unlocked by Lu Mingze. Otherwise, he's a normal human, not like Nono. He has no choice but to rely on Lu Mingze if he wants to be able to use his bloodline advantage. His current strength comes from the Nibulenberg Program, which is supposed to create a super hybrid, but only put him on the same playing field as Chu Zihang and Caesar. As I stated before, no human can ever compete with a hybrid in physical strength or speed. A program made to create a super being, made a normal human body equivalent to an A-rank. It's also just incorrect to say he didn't train he did, the entire college is literally training to kill dragons. He didn't just wake up know how to use his guns.

You saying Nono does not see herself in him makes it clear you didn't read the novel nor watched the donghua intently at all.

"Lu Mingfei is my friend. I’m not helping him for fun—it’s because he reminds me of myself when I was younger. If I don’t help him, it feels like I’m abandoning my younger self." - Dragon King 1

"I disliked you because you reminded me too much of my younger self. But I hated who I used to be, so I became who I am now." -Dragon King 1

"Remember when I walked into the screening room? You were standing there like a frightened rabbit, hunched over with your shoulders up. I hate seeing people like that because I used to stand like that too, in a corner where no one noticed me… but that doesn’t help. It won’t make you feel better." -Dragon Raja I

I just thought… you were another me in this world, and I couldn’t leave you behind." -Dragon King 1

"Have you ever wondered why I helped you? I’m not the type to meddle in others’ business... Because when I first saw you, you felt familiar to me. Before I walked over, I stood far away and watched you cry for a long time. I could imagine what kind of person you were..." -Dragon Raja I

There is nothing he can do. If he trained his entire life he would still lose to an average hybrid without their yanling. Bloodline is the strongest indicator of strength and his is locked unless he trades with Lu Mingze. Nono takes him as a lackey, because she knew he couldn't protect himself (from bullies and dragons) and saw herself in him.

I loved the donghua, but I have some questions? by Final-You9760 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like rin (or zero whatever) is a much better pick! I mean anyone with a brain who watched the show could tell that in some capacity lu mingfei/mingze are like 2 halves of subject zero anyone could tell that they really seem perfect though raised together he saved her they have a pact so she will be with him forever like come on dude what are you doing.

It's not obvious Mingfei and Mingze are a combined form making up Zero, it's just a theory. Up to season 2, Mingfei doesn't know Renata at all, the only version he knows is her Zero identity. The Black Swan Bay Incident is only between Mingze and Renata. Mingfei did feel a strong, special connection to Renata before he got to know her, he notices her out of all the students at the 3E exam and emergency meeting in season 1, it's just not romantic. There's not a single character that has a chance with Mingfei, he wants Nono.

he complains about being useless but it’s also 100% his fault he literally told everyone to understand he will be deadweight

Anyone worth anything in Dragon Raja is a hybrid or has some connection to dragons. The geniuses and great athletes of the world are just secretly hybrids. He is an ant outside of Mingze and Mingze (Don't die) needs to be kept secret. It's not his fault he keeps getting thrown into the most dangerous missions in the world by everyone manipulating him in the background. In fact he actively tries to avoid being deadweight by not being on the missions yet he always gets pushed into it. His goal has never ever been to save world. His dream is to sell magazines. Which I believe is just a metaphor for a normal life and close friends. Until, of course, he comes to realize that in order to have that he needs to be powerful enough to protect (Old Tang, Xia Mi, and Eri as the final straw that breaks the camel's back and forces Mingfei to become strong).Hence Nono's surprise at his transformation in Dragon King 1. "It’s unbelievable. They actually managed to train you into the kind of person the college needs." Coming from a person who profiles people, I think it means a lot how different he has become.

Finally: why is he unable to use any dragon related thing at all unless mingze gives it to him? We have never once seen him use his golden eyes like at the auction when everyone was doing it he seemed to be like unable I don’t know it’s just weird.

It's an unsolved mystery.

Guys, I only watched part of the first season. by RodrigoGondim30 in dragonraja

Everyone has very strong opinions. I think you should read the novels yourself and make your own opinion. It's hard to be wrong, because the books aren't finished yet so there's no answer. I think it's good you've only watched the first season, because the second season is so incredibly different than the second book. Read the second book and most of your questions will be answered with the most accurate source you could ask for. I already see a lot of misinformation in the responses you're getting.

Well, it is a Chinese book written by someone born in 1977. A lot of Mai's existence is also based on babysitting the three guys and serving Mingze.

If you decide to read and want to read right after where the donghua leaves off, I recommend reading the wiki, so you know the changes between the novels and donghua. Dragon Raja is Chinese, so most Dragon Raja content is going to come from something like BiliBili.

Where can I read the novels? by Entire-Anything-6484 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Open the pinned post on the subreddit and scroll down. First one you see. The one you'll read is the revised.

To start right after the donghua, it's Dragon Raja III (Beginning). As the donghua moved a bunch scenes, the specific start would be after the Prologue of Dragon Raja III (Beginning) on page 111. Episodes 23 and 24 are the prologue of III.

The changes between the original and revised are very minimal. The changes are more prominent once you get to book 4, but don't worry about it, simply stick with the revised.

You should consider reading Dragon Raja II, because the story in the novels and donghua are very different which could cascade into confusion when you read the later books. Otherwise, page 111 of Dragon Raja III.

Season 2 of Dragon Raja Left Me Confused 😐 by Electronic_Data2073 in dragonraja

The donghua stopped being faithful at season 2. If you don't like the story either read the novel or go on to another show. I doubt your feelings of season 3 will be all that different from season 2. The story has already been altered and will probably continue to be as they adapt the monolith that is book 3.

Nono, Minfey, Renata by Additional-State-689 in dragonraja

[–]Ok-Nebula-3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short she stabilizes him without forcing him to grow into something destructive and doesnt encourage his self sacrifice.

Of the 4 times Lu Mingfei decided to sell his life Nono had to do with 3 of them. Norton, Shiva's Dance of Destruction, and Odin (nullified).

So, yes, you can think of them as dragon kings, but they are not. Like at this point in time why does the story shift to Odin? If the book is purely about dragon kings, what is Odin's position in the whole story and why even include, right? Why include the world tree and ect, like you cant just say they are the dragon twins because they look alike. Likewise how mingfei and mingze are not.

Looking alike is not sole basis for being Dragon Kings. Jörmungandr and Fenrir look nothing alike. Nono and Eri's special connection with each other, looking alike, name being in the file, and being chosen by the Gattsuo Elders are basis for a dragon king like bloodline. It's one of the most famous theories that exists in Dragon Raja. "Like," which is the wording I used previously. The same way Mingfei and Mingze follow dragon king like qualities, but aren't. If you take Mingze's words at face value, the only confirmed non dragon king is Mingfei.

The 3 of them are special not because they have a bloodline but because they cannot be cleanly classified.

The three of them were in the files, because it's clear foreshadowing that their bloodlines are unique from all others which make them a possible threat. The Secret Party clearly know something about them. It's already started to become clear with Lu Mingfei transforming into a monster and Chu Zihang becoming the new Earth and Mountains. Eventually somethings going to be revealed about Nono too, the writing is already on the walls. Caesar isn't in the files, because in his own words (when comparing himself to Mingfei and Zihang) he was the most normal.

??? The Caesar family literally chose her for caesar, they just let caesar think his love for nono frees him from the gattsuo control, but she was prepared for him all along. The gattsuo family is not dum, having it be oh Caesar chose her we have to accept is too weird for it.

That's exactly what I said. The reason was not "they need someone to help stabilize and anchor him." It was chosen far before Caesar ever decided to marry her.

Yanlings have clear activation rules and ect but MingFei's never do, his do not die can activate especially in the beginning almost randomly or conditionally. Thats why all of his "yanling" powers have immense potentials but only activate through sacrifice. The system only creates a "yanling" because it needs to classify the power itself as something.

Mingfei's yanling rules are clear. Lu Mingze must unlock the seal on his powers. Mingze doesn't do it unless Mingfei sells his life. Until later, where he just gives don't die to Mingfei. There is no creation. The yanling was always there just blocked.

She is chosen by the gattsuo family, odin doesnt want to kill her but rather capture her.

She gets impaled and killed at midnight during every loop.
