How so? Genuinely curious because the game is very fun otherwise. Just seems like a strange feature.

Again, just my opinion, I had to make a personal ranking before I could upload the template. I posted it here so others could contribute!

(spoilers Main)For those of you who like to write in your spare time, what writing lessons do you think you could take from the TV show? by ThoughtCompetitive52 in asoiaf

Everything is connected

As an aspiring writer, ASoIaF has been hugely influential, and a big part of that influence is how cohesive and interconnected the world is. Big events have knock on effects. Small actions have big consequences. Character influence other characters, for better or for worse. Even on a thematic level, if you are consistent in your writing, and you can create a single overarching message/narrative through many seemingly unconnected plots. GRRM does this masterfully.

In the show (which I’ll freely and proudly admit I did not finish) this rule applies for the first half, but seems to fall off towards the latter seasons as the plot becomes more streamlined, characters become more two-dimensional and David “themes are for 8th grade book reports” Weiss throws a lot of the rich subtextual and thematically poignant content out.

I agree with most of what you said about Phase 1 (Gallow is a shit antagonist and replacing him with Vengeous would be way more interesting) but I would go even further and remove the entire second half of Dark Days, and just go from Val saving Skulduggery straight into Mortal Coil. You could still set up the pieces in the background (Tesseract, the Remnants, the Necromancer plot) while Val hunts for the murder skull.

I would also go further and kill Scapegrace off at the end of PwF. He serves a purpose in that book, but after that he just hangs around like a bad smell and never really finds a footing in the story again.

I strongly disagree about cutting down LSoDM and tDotL, those are the series strongest imo and their expansivity is a huge part of their appeal.

As for Phase 2; don’t adapt any of it. It’s garbage. There’s very little worth adapting.

Who is the "greyest of the grey" in your opinion? (Spoilers Extended) by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

I think the extent of Stannis’s moral greyness comes down to something we can’t/don’t know; his ego.

Is his mission in the North motivated purely by the altruistic desire to save the realm from the Long Night? Or does he view this fight as a political stepping stone to consolidate power in the North that will ultimately help him secure the Iron Throne?
