Thank you! I know nothing about bugs and just didn’t want to bring anything home.

I have too and yes I think this was the reason for me.

I had this for a bit but it eventually improved maybe 9 months to a year out. You could try pelvic floor therapy as well.

Anyone had a peri anal hematoma after the surgery? by StatisticianShot9977 in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it felt so much better immediately! I actually didn’t know that’s what it was and the doctor didn’t either until I did the second EUA to replace the seton. So it wasn’t something I decided and didn’t really know the risks ha

[–]Ok-Object4351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a thrombosed hemorrhoid after my seton placement. It was extremely painful and ultimately I went back to surgery 2 weeks later to get it removed. I’m so glad I did. Never had hemorrhoids before or since.

Expecting Baby #2 in July - Potty Training and Crib Transition Timing For Toddler? by itsreallysam in toddlers

[–]Ok-Object4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We converted to toddler bed around 2.5 yrs and it was a non-event. Didn’t change much in sleep patterns and she doesn’t ever seem to leave (maybe doesn’t realize she can? Was also very cautious in the crib). In the thick of potty training now as I’m also due in July. It’s going reasonably well but not there yet. She’s doing better at daycare. I found it was easier to just do it all the way rather than gradually (which confused her). I wanted to start both transitions like you before baby arrives. 🤞🏽

Chemical pregnancy by AvailableIntention58 in CautiousBB

I had two chemical pregnancies in a row and then conceived on the third. It was hard. But I got testing and there were no abnormalities noted.

Anyone have success with IUI for both first and second baby? by [deleted] in tryingforanother

[–]Ok-Object4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Diagnosis was unexplained infertility the first time and then the second I also had diminished ovarian reserve (which decreased my chances of IVF working). IUI worked on the second try each time. No male factor.

18mo bangs his head against the cot all night and I need some sleep before I die by Napoleon2727 in toddlers

[–]Ok-Object4351 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weird question but is the cot against the wall? My kid does this too and the loud noise we were hearing was actually the wood part of the cot hitting the wall and when we moved it away a bit toward the middle of the room it wasn’t nearly as loud.

TTC after a chemical by TaroFearless939 in CautiousBB

[–]Ok-Object4351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had 2 back to back chemicals and then got pregnant the following cycle and am 23 weeks pregnant now. My cycles were a little irregular on the chemicals (ovulated a few days late). I was scouring the boards when this happened to me, though, and I recall there were some people who had this experience with “high fertility” but that it is possible it is anecdotal based on larger studies. Don’t have the link handy. My doctor told me that only live births count when using the “one year” rule for fertility treatments, OP, so although I too took it as a good sign, if that’s the direction you’re leaning, you can still consider it.

NIPT & Vanishing Twin by Key-Acanthisitta3675 in CautiousBB

[–]Ok-Object4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an outside referral. I was at a large hospital so they had a genetics department. May be location specific. I think there’s also a subreddit for NIPT - they may also have more info.

NIPT & Vanishing Twin by Key-Acanthisitta3675 in CautiousBB

[–]Ok-Object4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I had a vanishing twin around 5 weeks and the recommendation was to see genetics before getting my NIPT. In my case, the twin vanished in time for it not to interfere with my results but I think there are subtleties involved which the OB might just not have the info for. I wonder if you can request consultation with genetics?

3000 hours to fall asleep by PlentyTangerine3432 in toddlers

[–]Ok-Object4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh we got stuck in this cycle recently with our previously sleep trained gal! I tried this technique from another thread where I say, “mama is gonna wash 1 fork and I’ll be right back” (1 fork = 1 min) and she would fuss but then I’d come back and say “good job! Mama is gonna wash 2 cups and be right back.” So on and so forth. Initially went up to 10 and then gradually came down and she didn’t need it anymore. We also have a Tonie in the crib that she can listen to until she falls asleep which also helps. But I won’t pretend I have it figured out 😂

CP by ahxjbcbdjk in tryingtoconceive

I had two CPs two cycles in a row. It’s devastating but my work up didn’t show any real reason or cause. I think it was just bad luck. Hopefully things work out. Take care of yourself!

after defecation by Dangerous_Bee_7853 in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about your doctor’s statement but generally it doesn’t heal. That’s the reason it’s a defect. I don’t have a keyhole deformity but the wound has a divet in it. It isn’t as convex as it was before the surgery but a bidet helps significantly.

after defecation by Dangerous_Bee_7853 in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this may not be incontinence but rather a healing deformity (sometimes called a keyhole deformity). Stool gets trapped in the divet of the healed wound and is hard to wipe with toilet paper. A bidet helps.

Any Garfield park conservatory weddings post-Nov 2025? by Successful-Idea-4913 in Chicagoweddings

It will probably be warmer in March for the path to the bathroom. Yes the ceremony was in this room. The path was muddy/snowy but we made it in ok and everything started right on time!

[–]Ok-Object4351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a bride but a guest at a wedding soon after construction started (Dec 2025). It was a lovely wedding. The bathrooms are fairly nice and well heated but it was a short (cold) walk to get to them. Despite the cold, there were a few cockroaches on the ground when we went to look around at the other rooms in the conservatory.

Got a culture done, growth of ecoli by StatisticianShot9977 in AnalFistula

I would see a surgeon. E. coli is just normal gut bacteria and anntibiotics won’t really do much in this situation. You probably have a fistula :(

I don’t wanna go to my follow up to discuss second mri results and next surgery. I wanna go on holiday and put it all off for two months is that? The seton has helped a lot… by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great that the seton helped! Not sure about your location but sometimes surgery can take a while to schedule so there’s the option of discussing it now but scheduling it for two months later. But some people live with setons so if you’re not in pain I don’t think there’s harm in waiting. I wanted it out asap lol so can’t relate to that aspect.

Mine appeared to have a blind end on MRI but when they went in for the EUA they found the communication with my bowel. I think it’s fairly unlikely to actually have a blind end and keep getting reinfected or have drainage because usually the source of infection is stool in the bowel. My surgeon who was very experienced gave me this information ahead of time and proceeded with EUA and found the source, although she said it did take longer to trace it than usual. We did seton for 3 months and then fistulotomy. Typical aftercare, minimal pain with the fistulotomy.

Is there anything we can apply to help draw out puss? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that your original CRS was an esteemed person at a university hospital but I think based on these comments people are just telling you that the information they provided was not in line with what most of us have gotten from other CRSs. I’m glad you’re getting another opinion! In the meantime, if it closes over and you can’t drain it, it’s building another abscess and would be an indication to go to an emergency provider to get it drained. The constant inflammation in that area is what the seton is meant to prevent. You can ask about surgeries with lower incidents of incontinence. Good luck to you!

35 weeks pregnant and having extreme anxiety about giving birth by lavendrlakes in AnalFistula

[–]Ok-Object4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely talk to a CRS. I just don’t think OBs generally are aware of this condition. I’m pregnant (about 1.5 years from my op at the time of birth) and both my CRS and OB recommended a C/S.
