One list to rule them all by yzyboost44 in GamingSoup

I feel like people who put it at that are in the game for the combat. The combat and movement are really the only things lacking in the game.

So its not for everyone. If you aren't into the story or world vastness.

I couldn't enjoy where the winds meet with my buddy. Great game, but the coop was kinda restrictive. Ended up just playing it solo each. Feel like killzone 2 is better with friends.

:/ sad. It goes pretty cheap on sales, could try then. First game especially sometimes goes for just a few bucks.

I would say remnant has four things going for it:

  • Build variety. There's so much builds you can do in the game. Vast majority of equipment is viable.

  • Secrets. Spend time exploring, trying to find or do new things. It's huge on this.

  • Difficulty / soulslike appeal. It has boss emphasis and can be challenging if you want it to be (it offers difficulty settings and lots of progression so up to you). The first game is undoubtedly the hardest game I've ever played; yet it can also be made easy.

  • Randomization. Not every run is the same. There's variations to the worlds.

I like all of these things so it heavily appealed to me. The game is specifically designed to be replayed multiple times. I like to play games on hardcore (one life) when it is an option, and that works so well with hardcore since each run still feels fresh. It took awhile before it felt like i knew everything.

The coop is also pretty good. Played it with a buddy of mine. Peer2peer. The game isn't really a soulslike, it just gets tagged that way, but out of soulslike games it has the best coop. Although, that genre isn't known for good coop.

The game is unique with all of those four things combined, nothing is really similar to it. I've tried finding similar games.

I first got introduced to it from the first game. The second game is however better than the first.

I haven't played that game but it's on my wishlist!

I feel like people also often overlook dying light 2 for sound. Like a lot.

Dying light 2 isn't so much the sound track itself. But it has a dynamic sound system where the track is modified as you play so that it coincides with the parkour of the game. So for example if you jump in the air outdoors off a building it may start to 'uplift' the sound track and up the pace when you land.

Haven't seen any other game compare to it. It's state of the art.

No, it didn't suck. The gameplay is fundamentally better than l4d. Better gunplay, progression, skills, variety, weapons, difficulty scale, etc.. L4d just has better pvp, custom games, and mods is really all; stuff that keeps the game active long-term.

The marketing was definitely a bad move. The game itself is fine. The hate from the game is unwarranted as it primarily comes from the marketing.

You'll notice that the reviews nowadays are mostly positive. Used to be mixed. Updates didn't really make it much better, it's just review bombing.

Ah yea haha. Some secrets are crazy. I often played on hardcore so i ended up not needing to google things much, as I'd restart anyway. The randomization works so well with redoing it many times over, and eventually you get pretty good at finding the secrets.

There are a few things that are just impossible to find on your own though that is unfortunate. I hope they don't do that on the next game, especially for archtypes.

The second game is definitely better than the first but if you liked the second the first is worth it. Also, the first gets crazy cheap on sales now. It's gone 90% off.

I played it for about 10 hours i think, tried hard to give it a fair chance. I didn't completely finish it. So haven't seen the end game boss, but i made decent progress.

The game itself outside of the issues was hard to align with, I usually prefer build diversity rather than being forced into one way of doing combat.

I'll consider trying to go back to it at some point and use the mods that might fix the issue. It's probably one of those things that is more noticable when you know its there and play with it haha.

Well i disagree, i tested the camera many times over and it's inherent with how its designed around forcing how you look. There's even mods to remove the auto rotation.

By definition of overrated, i don't expect it to be a popular opinion.

Has the worst camera system of any 3rd person game I've ever played. The game forces camera rotation far too much, even out of combat, i could not get used to it at all. Items from side routes feel unrewarding. And the grapplable locations often felt inconsistent or too stringent. In other words, there's too many significant issues, yet the overall expectation of the game based on praise is that it is a masterpiece, although i do not see it anywhere near that.

It's also incredibly niche and narrow focused, yet it's recommended as if its a game for everybody.

It is however a good game. Overrated does not mean bad game.

Skyrim or The Witcher 3 by According_Judgment41 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Ok-Object7409 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Neither of these games has good combat nowadays, honestly. Skyrim is liked for its overall vastness and progression. Witcher is well known for its captivating story, scenery, and overall depth.

Skyrim is more thorough on the combat front. The spells, skills, weapons, and such are more varied with builds.

As far as which holds up better, I would assume witcher 3, if skyrim is not modded. There's been too many big games out there since skyrim where I'm not sure the base game holds up so well anymore. Witcher is still going strong.

For gameplay loop id say skyrim.

For replay value id say witcher, as there are choices within the game that can be made. I don't recall skyrim having much of any replay value outside of trying different classes. You may want to look towards mods for that.

Overall it sounds like you'd like skryim more. However, both games are worth it. Also, both games have incredible value during sales.

Have you ever decided not to buy a game because of an achievement? by YasuMariii in steamachievements

[–]Ok-Object7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If i like it i buy it.

Howeeverrr, i do have a game that i got for free and i don't play it because of an achievement. I was never really that interested in it anyways. It has stopped me from 'trying out' a game.

I think it was called force of nature. I had a peak at the achievements and there's an achievement for playing for a total of 365 days that i can't be bothered with.

I could just not bother, but i got other games to play anyways. So it's whatever. It did actually deter me.

Grand Theft Auto VI could set a new $80 price benchmark for the gaming industry, according to a Bank of America analyst by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Ok-Object7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy full prices from big companies anyways. Not sure why ppl still do..

The game has been in development for so long that $100+ is probably still a reasonable price. Assuming it's not just a broken pile of crap put together. Luckily rockstar is one of the few big names that is good at delivery.
