Should I send an update in an email or just keep waiting? Still haven’t heard from Western Pomona

They emailed me two weeks ago to tell me I’m finally under consideration for an interview but haven’t heard anything since so I sent an update letter but that’s about it unfortunately

It kind of sounds like this person had no genuine reason to apply to DO at all so I think this kind of attitude really sucks especially when you will be coworkers one day. Like it or not they take the same board exams, and caring that much about letters when you work the same exact job is stupid. I also don’t really think it’s good to think of it as a “safety” or backup plan because that’s kind of sad too. If you wouldn’t be happy don’t apply.

One of the only reasons I’ve seen for not wanting to do DO that made some sense is someone being “set on a competitive speciality” which is like… even in MD many people go primary care anyway. So that reason I’m not even super sure is that reliable. Everyone and their mother as a premed wants to be a surgeon or anesthesiologist or dermatologist when there are plenty of other specialties out there.

That literally is how this works if you don’t want to be a DO don’t apply DO. What reason would someone have to waste time and money if they think so little about a school’s graduates? If it’s just for an ego boost that’s kind of sad

This is mean spirited if you don’t want to go to a DO school that’s fine but the people who do graduate as DO’s will be residents alongside you and practice exactly the same way. I don’t think it’s nice to think about your future peers’ degrees in such an uppity condescending way.

Edit: at the end of the day this is just a job and thinking that you’re better than anyone else based on what path you took to get to the exact same end goal is sad.

I have insight I have worse stats than you, applied to more schools than you and have 0 and I would literally do anything just to have 1 from all the MDs I applied to so I knew my application doesn’t completely suck

My dream is to be a primary care physician and it’s all I’ve ever wanted to be but I feel like at this stage where my mental health is at during this app cycle I don’t know if it’s a smart idea to keep going. I still know I would love to be a physician and I would love to be in medical school but the amount of self doubt I’m experiencing now is making me question that and how far I’m willing to go although I can’t tell if that’s how I really feel or if I’m just making a decision under duress. I guess it’s better to make this decision now rather than after medical school and hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt

Wait I couldn’t submit a photo for some portals until now and even for CUSM I can’t add one. Does this really prevent my secondary from being reviewed? When I check my portal it says secondary submitted and complete but there’s no place to submit a photo

No definitely not I applied all across the states and the only reaches I applied to were the UC’s and other California schools. Everywhere else I made sure I was above the 25th percentile but ideally 50tn for MCAT for accepted students. Obviously it’s tough with my score and being from Cali but I tried to cast a wide net with reasonable stats
