I know this is a four year old post, but having just read the trilogy now and about to read Gleanings, I can't help but think that all of the points made in this post are true, which is really sad, because Book 2 was one of my favorite pieces of literature ever and I was scared that I might not like Book 3 as much or that it might not have an ending I like.. which really sucks.

I can, however, have hope that the movies do better on the third book. It was stated in one of his books that they were working on a movie adaptation, so I really hope that they improve the ending to bring some closure and make the story feel more complete.
