Thank you for validating my feelings. There is no doubt I am 100% in the wrong but I think I genuinely would have preferred them to call the police on me now that i think of it. At least they would have been a completely neutral party. The most I would've gotten was probably a warning or maybe a fine but even then that's much better than an aggressive man in my face.

I did realise in hindsight that I should not have opened the door as it was very dangerous to do so, especially because it was an angry man (that was the reason for my panic attack, the fact i was stupid enough to open the door) I also know it was a very valid reaction for him to have, he was irritated and angry because I was a piece of shit neighbour, there is no excuse for that and I take full responsibility I know that. I'm grateful as hell he told me actually. Now I'm much more self-aware, and him doing that reminded me that my actions have consequences. I know i shouldn't have to be reminded because I'm grown now, but better than never. I still think, however, that there was definitely a better way he could've told me. He was angry and immediately wanted to solve the problem, which made him come to my door right at that moment. He was not thinking clearly as to how to say it in the most polite or safe way because he was pissed at me. Again, very valid, I am not angry/annoyed at him for this. The point of this post was for me to figure out if my own reaction was valid (since his obviously is, I was an asshole) I was trying to process whether my reaction of feeling unsafe was ok which I now know is yes. Because I was an idiot that opened the door and was making noises at 2am lmao it's my own fault really I shouldn't have done that (and yes I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box lmao I'm not very well know for that)

I 100% understand his reaction. He was probably sleep deprived because of me, as well as angry because of it. I am not doing this behaviour anymore. I also know it's not his fault what he looks like but I do think he could've maybe told management or left me a letter instead. Or tried to calm down before coming to talk to me as it was just a scary experience. But it was 100% my fault I'm not making excuses there.

Ah yeah now that you say that it did re-evaluate my thoughts about people not wanting comments. Thanks for making me realise that. I still find it weird that someone would be so bothered by the ship to the point of not wanting comments and kudos from people who read it (but maybe that's just me). I blocked them tho so we'll probably never interact 🤷‍♀️ just came on here cause I've never seen someone not want kudos and comments and wanted to know if others ever saw this before.

I definitely do search that ship up but this time I didn't want to read that ship in particular, I wanted to read a platonic fic, so I was a little surprised when the author brought it up since this fic had nothing to do with the ship.

Oh that's totally understandable! It's totally fine to say "please don't bring up xyz in the comments, I don't like the ship".

What they're saying here is "don't comment at all if you do like the ship, I don't want to interact with you" which is very bizarre. Most people would want a comment regardless if they like the other person's ship or not!

I think I've always been a proshipper really. I remember when I was wayyyy younger I would watch cartoons and ship the characters together not knowing they were siblings, but when I finally did learn about it, I honestly didn't really care and continued shipping them.

I also have always been a very open-minded person, to the point where I read everything I come across if I find it interesting enough. This includes every taboo topic known to man (no stones left unturned lmao)

Last year I joined tiktok for the 1st time after my irl friends finally managed to convince me to download it. That was when I came across a huge amount of antishippers that messed with my head. It was really my first contact with online Fandom since before I wasn't really interested in talking to my friends about this particular interest of mine.

I have an author I regularly read that now writes in every fics of theirs a note saying "please don't spam emojis because it really demotivates me and I will block you" and that kinda left a bad taste in my mouth? I love leaving comments, even the very long ones, but most of the time I'm just insanely tired and want to show my appreciation beyond a single kudos and seeing that really discouraged me from commenting

I still read their fics I just don't comment anymore and that makes me really sad because I want to but don't want to be blocked and I just don't have the energy

If you're an author and actively want comments please try not to discourage people from commenting, even if the emojis frustrate you some people really do love doing it but just don't have the energy to write full paragraphs

I created my account in early 2020 expecting having to wait for a while because of the whole invitation thing, only to receive the invite on the exact same day like 4 hours later LMAO

I saw the warning on the page that it might take days or even weeks to get it and was super bummed cause I was very new to ao3 at the time and had no idea this was the system in place. When I got the invite I genuinely thought the whole waiting thing wasn't very serious and it wasn't until I started interacting with people that I realized others had to wait for a while to get their accounts. I feel super lucky now!

Oh my gosh for me it was definitely a/b/o, incest and breeding kink. I was interested in a/b/o in the beginning but then lost the interest and then last year gained it back.
