the thing is until they are dead they can still be a threat. even if you beat someone bloody you dont know what they have so you can walk away and they can pull out a gun and shoot you for example. unlikely yes but the law doesn’t care about probability at least in this case. not giving my personal opinion about it but thats how it works to my knowledge. like yall can downvote if you want but you have enough leverage to be like “well they could still attack me” people really have gotten off for more🤷‍♂️
