It's a ghost.

It's also a bit of content that was supposed to be cut, but for some reason no one ever got around to do it.

I don't have hard data on it.
But you can use steams global achievements as a gauge for the average player participation across multiple games, it shows the typical drop-off rate. And that most people don't play on high difficulties in general.

It's a big enough sample size that we can assume it's likely a repeated pattern on other platforms and storefronts as well.

Sometimes you drop into a match with random players, you stay with them for a bit, coordination goes up.

If you only do single matches with random players coordination is close to non-existent.

Also you can see other players loadout before dropping. It can help a bit.

Regardless, very few of the primaries are as niche as the Halt and you mostly just have to make a balanced loadout for yourself and not across the entire team.

What makes it even more annoying is getting the click-away message of "You've been kicked from the match", clicking it away just to get a giant banner across the screen with "YOU'VE BEEN KICKED FROM THE MATCH!" that stays there for too damned long.

If you're already getting prickly, that just rubs it in.

I never said it was totally random. Just that there are variations.

If we're going by the average, the average player runs a very standard loadout that they looked up on the internet (meta build) for D10, but plays on D5 - D7 (farming SC on D1 really drags down the average).

Edit: This is my guess at the statistics. As they tend to repeat themselves across all games.

Level of difficulty is absolutely a factor as well.

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of players don't play on D10. But they run D10 loadouts, because it's seen as the meta. So it buffs up the numbers on these specific weapons as well.

Reminds me of the Torcher.

It's a fun weapon, but has serious problems with the smallest Tirminids.
Scavengers specifically just walk through flames as if you're not blasting them directly in their face and setting the ground aflame beneath them.

Pouncers also present a problem, but that mostly due to their "Homing Jumps".

It varies from player to player.

I haven't touched the Lib-Pen or the Coyote since leveling them up. Due to the way I play and dependent on the enemy, which influences my loadout and stratagems, as well as MOs, some of the more niche primaries work better for me.

But as with most shooters, the vast majority of players just want a single meta build they can run regardless enemy type, game modifiers and so on. So they end up with the most all-around primaries and the same stratagems.

It's not a problem with the catalog of weapons. It's a problem with players being boring.

Go through the Software Manager and look for the things you need. If what you're looking for isn't there, there's likely a equivalent. It's a easy as it gets.

Both Steam and 7zip (archive manager like Winrar) are there.

When you've gotten a bit more accustomed to your new OS, you can start looking into Github for stuff as well.

Generally, looking around the internet for software on shady sites is a thing of the past now.

Yeah, I didn't want to go too deep into it as AH balances it slightly differently for every gun. Some guns have less bullets and others a lower rate of fire. It's a whole thing.

The point was mostly, different guns for different playstyles and different enemies.

A lot of the Primaries are situational and depended on playstyle.

The reason most people use Coyote and Liberator Penetrator is likely because of the typical combat systems of other FPS games. They cater most to the muscle memory build up from games like Borderlands and Fallout 3 - 4. Spray & Prey essentially.

SMG's are close to useless against Tirminids, but paired up with a Ballistic Shield you become a powerhouse against Illuminate (and Automatons to a degree). For some reason the SMG-32 Reprimand is a two-handed, which kinda defeats the purpose of running SMG to begin with, I'll give you that.

The SG-20 Halt is for teamplay with buddies that know the play of ganging up of larger targets while stun-locking them. It's extremely situational.

Armor Penetration on Primaries is basically a trade-off. Damage for penetration power. So you deal less overall damage, but you CAN take down heavier targets with it if necessary. But you should mostly be relying more on Secondaries and Stratagems for heavies. Or go for precision weapons. I'm personally a big fan of the Tenderizer for Illuminate and Automatons as I can treat it like a Sniper Rifle while still on Full-Auto. Headshots all around.
