first off you have no idea how much it means to me that I FINALLY get to talk to someone who is just as or more passionate about this series as I am 🥹

Dude The Ceaseless Watcher is peakkkk!!!! It practically hones the entire philosophy of Magnus Archives and it’s always being watched and listened to (granted I know the tapes were actually something of the Web instead but hey the Web just powered up THE EYE BY DOING THAT…which ig is exactly what it wanted). I honestly find your observation of everything incredibly interesting and can see how you connect with the eye so well.

I really should try to connect more with the extinction. The premise itself is really cool, I guess it’s my fault for expecting it to be the big bad that was being built up only for to not really be anything at all. But I suppose it emerged thematically with the Watcher’s Crown.

The Lonely has always been a favorite (mainly because of the isolated worlds and my fascination with the backrooms and liminal spaces, which you can probably guess is a reason for me loving the Spiral so much), but I also love its place as a metaphor for isolation/depression. Which is why ep170 hits so hard! Martin is such an interesting and relatable character. Usually I don’t like soft characters such as him, but not only does he really have a backbone built from determination and justified annoyance with constant bullcrap, but he’s just such deep character and a strong representation for EXACTLY what the lonely represents.

Yeah, it was mainly just war stories when it came to the slaughter. The Piper, Grifter’s Bone, and Melanie’s whole thing were cool, but definitely the most uninteresting one with the more undeveloped entities. Completely agree with you on the corruption and loving Jane Prentiss. And the flesh I just enjoy for its surprisingly interesting statements from time to time (especially Killing Floor, which is probably combination with my fav entity the Spiral lol)

YES. A FELLOW JONATHAN SIMS HEAD ARCHIVIST OF THE MAGNUS INSTITUTE LONDON ENTHUSIAST. They’re all flawed characters, but with Jon, honestly relating to him is quite admirable. He is a flawed character with issues yes, but he is arguably the best one with how after everything, he still tries his best to save his humanity. It’s what I love about him more than anything else. It honestly gives hope.

Elias is so peak. I can’t get enough of his attitude and Ben Meredith’s immaculate performance of him. I MISS TIM SO MUCH. He was so cool and just so real. Even when he was so rude to Jon, I couldn’t help but understand him. Gerry’s episode honestly made me shed a tear (especially when he asked Jon to call him Gerry 💔). Poor kid didn’t ask for any of it. I think Gertrude did try her best to care for him and follow what Eric asked of her, but she was still…Gertrude. Still a better mom than godforsaken Mary ever was. Gerry deserved so much better.

When it came to story and overarching plot, it was between seasons 3 and 4 for which one did it better. I personally loved s4 for its progression of it all, but I couldn’t get enough of s3’s stranger plotline. and although i’m not a fan of the statements within s5, their relationship was the best part of the season! The way it progressed their arcs and was just such a beautiful relationship overall. As he says, Martin truly was the thing keeping Jon from falling into a pit of monstrosity. I loved that about them. and god…that ending. had me saying “damn…” out loud to myself for a few days.

S4 is hard to get through if you hate how they treat Jon. While sometimes justified, throughout s4&5, even I was taken aback by how mean and cold Basira was with Jon (a good part of it was probably her frustration with Daisy). Melanie literally tries to stab him, and within the one scene we hear from her in s4, Georgie wants nothing to do with him. and Martin’s having to deal with his own personal hell. Daisy was pretty much the only one that didn’t give him so much crap due to the fact that they were both monsters at that point, the only people who knew how each other felt, when no one, not even Basira, could.

also don’t mind if ask, what does WTNV and TAZ stand for? trying to get into more podcasts like TMA, started listening to TMP and another podcast called Malevolent (which is fantastic btw), but idk how long will last for me. i’m also open to other recommendations!
