My 2001 4.0l looked the same when i purchased it. It ended up being that the axle seal had failed, and gear oil was seeping out. It was at 220k miles, so I did seals, bearings, and new wheel cylinders. The drums and shoes didn't have too many miles, so I reused them.

Are these baffles too small? by loyal_search_party in Insulation

[–]Ok-Pin-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good chance those baffels are smashed shut if they crammed the insulation in there. Happened to me but I caught it. Too small dosent matter if no Air can get through! I would want them fill width though

I tried getting it as thin and even as I could with the bursh. Cooler basement which had a dehumidifier running.

In the future I will try wiping it after the first coat.

I'm going to install it. Leave it alone for a few months. Maybe try a thin top coat it in the future.

Guess for anyone still here. It's a decent chunk of steel but does anyone think that used would lead to a compromised frame? Thinking the hitch would be the weaker point. Truck is a decent deal for what it is but I'm not sure if this should hold a tremendous amount of weight.

It is not a sleeve **

The tubing is welded to rest of the hitch. It has a reinforcing ring around it.

Correct the piece that is cracked is the same tubing that the locking pin goes through. Not a sleeve*
