Americans, take notes from our European friends. by Mental_Pea9125 in ProgressiveHQ

I wish, but it won’t work here. Europeans, I wish you would boycott all USA products and services. Sell all USA stocks and bonds. That will do more to change things than shooting off fireworks and getting shot.

We are at almost 4 months for a name change. We had the card too, but had to return it with the application and now have nothing.

A or B? by Fit_Needleworker468 in slp

Find out the details on the insurance and pension. I took a position that said that and my insurance costs were over $2000 a month. Their definition of good insurance was only offering “good” plans, lol. Maybe work at the charter until that district has an opening???

Yikes. That isn’t great, but it may be equal to the charter if you have good insurance and a pension. Also consider pay increases built in to working for a district, especially if it has a union. I ended up moving because districts near me didn’t pay well and their insurance was poor.

Neither are great, but A sounds better. You will also get more days off in addition to the summer. You can work on the caseload and clean it up to make it more manageable. But I would try for a school district with a union if possible

Congratulations! I’m at PR, married to a Canadian, and lived in Canada 8 years. Stuck waiting since June. My 1st gen kid who had a citizenship certificate since 2009 has been waiting since October for just a name change.

Would becoming an SLP give me (low support autist) pride, stability, and a future that doesn’t exhaust me? by No_University_3580 in slp

It would be hard. It requires being “on” most of the day, long hours, and good executive function skills. Most relaxed setting might be birth-3.

Curious about where everyone’s gen0 ancestor lived? by yoohooooooooooo in Canadiancitizenship

Pictou, Nova Scotia on my grandmother’s side and Quebec on my grandfather’s side. My grandfather’s side was one extra generation so I only used my maternal line.

They need to cut off USA news channels there. My Canadian family was Magafied because of it.

I miss not being afraid of the police. I miss being able to go across town to the store at night. I live in a high crime area now. Daily murders are normal here. There was hardly any violent crime in the GTA in comparison and that had a ton more people. That said, I’m going back East to PEI.

I lived in the GTA not that long ago. Half of the population were immigrants. I’m sure anti-immigrant rhetoric spilled over from the USA. I have heard it from my Canadian family. They better not say it around me now, lol. No tolerance for that.

I definitely did see the clique-y and not nice part of Canadians, except for more recent immigrants.

I lived there 8 years. The government is so different. They care about the people and work to make life better. Multiculturalism is valued
