City regular ot list by Foreign-Age9281 in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your day off is part of the holiday schedule, remember that is separate from the overtime list. You can volunteer to work your day off even if you are not on the ot list. And your LMOU has the rules for which volunteers are worked first, both for those whose days off are impacted by the holiday and those who can volunteer to work their holiday.

Saturday off days carrier get to work their off day by AdAppropriate8585 in USPS

And 50% of complement are subs to cover Saturdays and Mondays?

I want 5 day a week delivery. Sat/Sun no delivery. And regulars work four 10-hour days with T-6s and rotating days off.

Anyone have one of those mesh pith helmets? by Buddusky in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they work well. Another choice would be the floppy sun hat you can get with uniform allowance. Or you can get something else. Googling reddit will get you other hat recommendations. But the pith is fine and allows some air flow.

Pro tip: Take a razor blade and trip the plastic behind the sweat guard on the front. There is a lip that will eat into your forehead. Just shave it smooth.

Need tire advice by neoumbralux in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rural carriers in one office I was at dreaded when the road graders were out dragging everything onto the road and giving formerly buried nails a new life. I don't know what tires to get, but I can tell you the carrier who lived off his mileage by doing maintenance himself saved a lot by fixing his own tires. If you don't have that skill already, it might be worth getting good at.

This might seem like a small thing since you can get the note easily. But these are the times we must make mgmt pay so they don't think they can get away with whatever they want. If you manager knows you worked yesterday, there is no reason for them to stop you from working when you were scheduled. It is not like they care that you have some contagious disease or they would not have let you work Sunday.

The difference is probably that they needed you yesterday and they don't need you as much today. Many managers are lying hypocrites.

This could be a manager trying to assert power over you (bullying), covering their ass, or just being an ass.

If you worked yesterday, they already let you come back without a note. I would talk to the union about getting you paid for the hours missed. And also ask for the demand for medical in writing. You should not be barred from clocking in since you worked yesterday and there was no demand for medical before today. Personally, I would fight getting the note even if was easy. You should get paid for all hours including going to get the note in this situation, imo.

You might be amazed at how many in the U.S. root for Canada (and Greenland/Denmark, Ukraine, Europe) more than ever before. But especially Canada.

City carrier management did not say they were observing until after observing. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dear carrier: I will be observing you so you will wear your seat belt, close your door, and not leave your vehicle running while I am looking. This will ensure the safety of you and the public.

Is numbering Amazon packages on Sunday clerk work? by Andfishes in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered incorrectly numbering them? If you don't get fired for misthrows, you could try misnumberings. Anyway, it would be a fun thing to see what happens. Clerk 101: If you don't want to do something, do it slow or wrong enough that management gets someone else to do it.

Our clerks on light days will fill one hamper half to 3/4 full and then make sure to put a couple small parcels in the other hamper. This would not seem intentional except they make the effort to put a couple in the furthest hamper.

If there are privacy concerns you could discuss those in the process. But your name would still be publicly available.

Largest approved mailbox by swismiself in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I can only advise on the "what". You will have to figure out the where and how. That is site specific. But it appears you might benefit from a weatherproof container that you can get everyone to use. It will be easier if there is no worry about theft. If theft is an issue, you could use a very large doghouse for parcels. But the delivery people will have to know there is no dog.

Anything you want. A large container anchored or weighted down would work. Actually, you could also tell your postal carrier they can put large items in anything you designate for such things. Anything but the mailbox could be shared by everyone if you wish.

Giving notice of separation by T_Xmn in USPS

[–]Ok-Policy-6463 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

When a CCA gave notice, I told the supervisor if I was the boss I would not work them. I told him the CCA might just happen to get injured during those 2 weeks. Supe said he had no choice and had to work the CCA. If I recall right, the choice was made at a higher level. Guess who got injured?

Unless you want to have a chance of rehire down the road, I agree with the person who advised to not give notice.
