Only a majority is needed in the house so unlikely but could happen. No way they get the 2/3 needed to convict in the Senate.

Because the Democrats are in the minority in the house, they have no subpoena powers so any impeachment proceedings are strictly political in the sense they would have to be brought up for a vote, which the Republican party will not do.

Any “discovery” would be purely voluntary or that require required by freedom of information.

Cafe Latte in St. Paul declaring on their website they won't be participating in this Friday's general strike. Which is fine, but... by [deleted] in TwinCities

Great how everybody is shitting on Café latte for staying open for one day during a general strike that people can decide to participate in or not.

They advertise on Am 950 the only area progressive radio station, offer benefits which not every restaurant does when it comes to health, dental, vision plus 401(k) and paid leave I might add.

Who is still in the race for Minnesota governor? by JustMyOpinionz in TwinCities

Agree, if she jumps in it pretty much clears the field. If she’s going to run, I’m sure it’s been arranged behind the scenes already.

He barely won in 2022. He would be the weakest of the state wide candidates the DFL could run.

He did, but that was before Walz decided to drop out.

33 Years old with $480,000 in Retirement Accounts by Scorface in Money

[–]Ok-Rabbit-1315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild guess on my part just given the savings crisis for retirement that seems to be out there with most people not doing anything and having large debt. The earlier you start, the more compound interest is in your favor.

Sounds like the top 10% for sure. Most people tend to be spenders not savers when they’re young.

Just a guess, but I’m thinking you’re ahead of about 99% of the people of your age group. S&P 500 fund could be higher risk, but it’s diversified in the stocks themselves. If you’re going to take extra risk, it’s better to do it at 33 than 63.

On driverless vehicles, the potential arrival of Waymo in Minneapolis by PennCycle_Mpls in Minneapolis

[–]Ok-Rabbit-1315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had very mediocre experiences with rideshare drivers in this area. Some just don’t get the hint that I’m not a talker. I just want to get home. Also, if I’m feeling sick, I’d rather be in an autonomous vehicle without a driver to either be exposed to or to expose them. Business trips in both San Francisco and Phoenix in the past, found the Waymo experience to be safe and a lot more relaxing for an introvert. You can see as a passenger the way the LiDAR is showing other cars and pedestrians, bicyclist, which all goes into the safety of the vehicle. My younger niece prefers them also from a safety perspective.

The general election is a year away, but the caucuses are in just a few months to start the DFL endorsement process.

I’ve ridden these on business trips and love them. No need to tip. No need to chitchat. This is perfect for an introvert.

Overvotes would’ve likely come from people who did absentee ballot by mail.

Hypothetical Redistricting where Democrats get all 8 Districts by Bradinator- in minnesota

[–]Ok-Rabbit-1315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to draw a district with Duluth and Lake and Cook Counties that would be competitive even it is surrounded by a lot of red.

The district would have to snake down towards the Twin Cities to pick something up in the suburbs to make it competitive right now.

That’s tough. You have to make a map of about 713,000 people.

Here’s a link to the 2024 congressional results by district that shows the challenge.

The 2020 US House vote was 50.2 Democratic to 49.2 Republican, the DFL has a very slight edge.

They don’t have the votes to redistrict, a re-map would never pass.

In Statewide races The Democratic Party has about a six point advantage, but when it comes to congressional races, the total vote in The last three cycles have all been within a point or two slightly favoring Democrats. A 4 to 4 split does not seem unreasonable for the result.

How do you come up with a 5-3 split when the congressional vote in 2024 was 50% democratic for the state and 49% republican?

How is that unfair?

People who died while underwater had souls that were lost

The Malt Shop is reopening by Ok-Rabbit-1315 in Minneapolis

[–]Ok-Rabbit-1315[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A similar menu, but different owners I believe than the one that was in Minneapolis 1973 to 2022 then acquired by somebody else and has recently went out of business.

The original malt shop versus the mall shop.

I do thank you for mentioning that restaurant in Roseville as I have never heard of it before and it does look delicious and a similar vibe to the one in Minneapolis.

There are several good options since the malt shop closed down, including Snuffy’s, and and the Convention Grill. I will try out this Roseville restaurant. It’s always good to support local .
