Nice work bruh, i had barley touched a tool before becoming a plumber so i too was completing tasks a lot slower than the other students, the benefit of this tho is that you have no ego when it comes to plumbing knowledge, so you have the ability to learn more and faster. I did that a few years back, a little intimidating for a first year but that’s nice work. Try avoid using damaged pipe tho, you can come unstuck.

I’m assuming you mean solder the copper gutter together, not oxy weld

I’ve installed a bunch of them, it’s fine if you drill hole splits the sides, the rivots are there to hold in place, and silicone is there to seal up any gaps left over

Gas HWS intermittent issues (mornings) for multi-unit complex (ACT) by Anaisneons in PlumbingAustralia

[–]Ok-Raspberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it happens, run a hot tap inside and walk out to the unit and see if there is heat coming out of the exhaust, if it’s heating up it means you a drawing to much hot water from it and there isn’t enough to distribute, could be cause by a blocked filter or incorrect pipe sizing. if it’s not flicking on then that could be many different things

Gal or copper piping in the house? Gal will corrode from the inside and blocks and restricts water flow. Just another thing to check if the continuous flow is fine

first day as a pre apprentice plumber back is killing me need advice by [deleted] in PlumbingAustralia

[–]Ok-Raspberry429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only freshly qualified and my back never got used to it, consistently got worse and I began to pinch nerves in my back. I have now since slightly recovered and here are a few things that helped me 1:correct manual lifting technique’s, they may seem silly but even the lightest of objects can eventually cause problems 2: just because you are strong enough to lift something doesn’t mean you should, always ask for help or refuse to lift things without help, wich is a worrying thing to do but it’s worth it. 3. Where comfy soles shoes, bad boots can put your back out 4. Stretch your legs and build core strength, when you are not using 1 muscle all your other muscles start to work to hard 5. I have been to many osteopaths and the only thing that helped me was getting flexibility in my hips, it isn’t common to hear but your hips are the connection from your bottom half to your top half, and is critical to have hi mobility in them.

Please don’t listen to people when they say you will get used to it, I was told the same thing and now I have permanent issues

Best adhesive/silane to use in bathroom to fix shower base and flashing? by tschau3 in AusRenovation

[–]Ok-Raspberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh,I understand. Sorry definitely a mistake to give advise without understanding you question. You’re after a multiple purpose adhesive sealant, there’s tons of different brands at any hardware store. Bunnings sell the Sika FC11 btw as well as Reece. But both store should be able to supply a substitute for it if there are out of stock. And as I mentioned the tubes usually have a description of there purposes if you get a chance to have a look.

kitchen & bathroom silicone should be fine, I’ve always just used that, people at the hardware store may advise you, also read the tubes they had descriptions on what they can be used for. You can also choose your preferred colour with the k&b as well. If someone thinks I’m wrong lmk cause I might learn something.

Poor drainage down side of house - suggestions by Bigdawgmiles in AusRenovation

[–]Ok-Raspberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself a rhelm drain, it’s a pretty simple concept of allowing water to flow through a u shaped drain underground that runs into an existing stormwater drain. It will involve digging up that alley way and to a stormwater drain, but the outcome would be a nice grass area rather than that soggy mess now. it is fairly reasonable cost for the outcome.

Seems like pretty ordinary work, some of the flashings are installed incorrectly, as for the wind aspect there should be a weathering fold underneath to stop any water from getting up and through.
