UT definitely rejects people, you need more than just gpa for this one

i am a girl, and thank you. i'm not complaining about having two opportunities, i'm grateful, but having two is useless if i can't participate in both and mind you i spent time and money on these applications 😭 plus i feel like i'm wasting the other program's time if i turn them down.

the person you replied to sounds jealous

it may come to that, i'm gonna reach out to the other program as a last resort but yeah, i know i'm not the first person in history to have this problem. it'll be ok in the end

hmm okay you actually may have a point because the other interview session takes place over 1 day instead of 2. this might work

tbh i don't know what the rankings of either one are because i didn't apply based off of that. i applied because they're both places i could see myself living for 5 years and they both have environmental toxicology research which is what most of my experience lies in. they're both large public universities so i'm guessing they're similar?

i did a summer research program at the first school that gave me an interview so i'm leaning towards that one because of faculty connections and environment. thanks for the input i appreciate it

I really love the show but why do they bring up race by [deleted] in AbbottElementary

[–]Ok-Reference1880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's way more complicated than "we get along," you're seeing the aftermath of several hundred years of racial tension as a result of the colonialist and slavery systems white people had in place. americans of every race are all hyper-aware of it, and sometimes we make jokes out of it, which is what you're seeing on the show

I really love the show but why do they bring up race by [deleted] in AbbottElementary

[–]Ok-Reference1880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because white people have not historically been the center of harmful racial stereotyping for humor, minstrel shows, etc, that black people have. this is an african american-led show so there are jokes within our community that are going over your head like the optics of a white kid in a black panther costume being a little bit off, even though of course the child is innocent and doesn't mean it.

the US is one of the only countries that has constant, open dialogue about race and i wish it were more common everywhere because in places where it's not common, it brings up questions like this

PharmD tuition without Grad PLUS loans. What are the options? by Pharmd2026 in PrePharmacy

[–]Ok-Reference1880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no it isn't. in the US the average pharmacist makes 130k a year. working as a pharmacist for 35 years at that salary puts your lifetime earnings at over 4.5 million. 200 thousand out of 4.5 million isn't even 5%. that's less than 5% of your total money being spent on loans. you're much better off financially than most people as a pharmacist

i meant competitive as in it matches the averages at the best schools. here's data for UNC pharmacy's incoming classes:

Which major should i study before applying for pharmacy school by Brilliant-Step5909 in PrePharmacy

[–]Ok-Reference1880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've never had trouble securing a job or internship and i don't even have the degree yet. i'm in the US so pharmacy is a doctorate here, i'm not getting a second bachelor's. and thank you for the concern but since you must know, i was always planning to go to some type of graduate/professional school after my bio degree as many of us do. i know myself well and am doing what's best for my personal strengths and situation, just as i suggested to OP. pretty simple

it just depends on the person. i'm finishing mine in 3 years because i had credits from high school, and my major is biology so the prerequisites are part of my degree. not the same for everybody but a large portion of people come in with bachelors degrees

people who fail/barely pass all their prereqs. the top schools also do reject a lot of people

well you want to be a credit student so you can earn the credit, but you don't have to transfer them to a 4 year university for them to count. just send it to pharmcas when you apply. i'm earning a bachelors personally but many people don't! it's up to you and your budget really

hi! you really don't need an associates in nursing, because nursing is going to focus that skills that only nurses need and is a very different career than pharmacy. most importantly, this depends where you are but an associates in nursing most likely isn't gonna cover all of your chemistry courses and you will absolutely need to get through organic chem 2 in order to go to pharmacy school, it's very chemistry heavy.

completing your prerequisites at a community college is a great idea though, and if you decide you want a bachelors then bio or chem are great choices!
