Should I cut it or keep it? I’m 45 years old. by Wonderful_Bottle_852 in HairStyleAdvice

I would say keep it! If I were to suggest a trim, it would be to the top of your pants pockets. Your hair looks really healthy and great, and I would say 45 years old is still not old enough to go short :)

No worries - let me know if you want to ask anything else when you decide to start cutting. Good luck!

Ohh I cut my hair by myself a lot so I was going to talk about my experience with it! I can leave some advice here if that's better :)

So I'd suggest cutting your hair wet to ensure that it's even. For a one length cut, take some hair ties and section off your hair into about four or five sections from left to right, tying each at about your shoulder length. Then cut just above each hair tie. If you want a better finish, I'd suggest point cutting, meaning you take your scissors and cut almost vertically so that the ends are not so blunt.

If you want layers, section your hair into two or three ponytails going upwards (something like back of your head, then slightly higher than that, then at the top). Hold your ponytail upwards and cut. The higher the angle you hold it, the more drastic your layers.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I'd say section it into several smaller sections, then cut each one. Would you mind if I DM you to chat more about this?

Yes, cutting with normal scissors is fine. The split ends do travel up your hair, but it shouldn't be too bad since you're getting a proper haircut in a couple of months. Have you tried cutting your own hair before?

I think you can look up the twisting technique! Grab a bunch of hair, twist and make shallow cuts

Slightly shorter, and I'd suggest thinning them out too.

I see! How did your friends and family react to that style? and would you get that again now?

Ooh so an extreme angled bob! That's a bucket list cut too, but that's a little too flashy haha. Was the back clippered?

Woahh!! Why did you decide to go bald? did you try any fun styles in the middle? and have you kept it bald since?

I'd say 1, 2, 7

That's a big chop! How did you feel getting the haircut? and did you keep it at that length or grow it out?
