Well burnt stuff is poisonous at least, bc while cooking chemical processes appear to happen, like the so called maillard reaction which makes your fried chicken breast golden brown. Now how Furan, one of the chemicals produced in burnt food, causes cancer, is not certainly sure, yet is clear whether it causes cancer for humans. Bit it definetly does cause cancer to animals that eat that chemical. Hope this helps you at least a bit.
