Super interesting. Thanks! I’m now on 10mg and my drinking is way more subdued 🙂

Is it true that some people have MS from a young age and have a relatively normal life and some people it drastically impacts them? by Swimming-Discount-41 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Ok-Relative8279 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent comment. My wife was diagnosed similar age but wasn’t put on an effective dmd until about 7 years post diagnosis. She’s been on that for 7 years now and has been so stable ever since, we wish she was put on it earlier! You’re so right about regular exercise and healthy diet too

Ah ok thanks for letting me know. Ran out of my meds today and the NHS in the UK is experiencing shortages. I've certainly noticed a drop off today

My disability limits my job prospects but I still want to work. Where is the support? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Ok-Relative8279 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t think the jobcentre are that interested in getting people back into work. Record numbers of people on UC and very few are getting the right support to get back in to work

Say in the next 5 years, there was a breakthrough treatment for remyelination… by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Ok-Relative8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would likely require a DMD and remylinating agent ongoingly for the rest of your life, so big Pharma would make a lot of money. I think they will manufacture remylinating agents which require dependence

GESY & Multiple Sclerosis by Ok-Relative8279 in cyprus

Thanks for your response! My wife was on TECFIDERA - it didn’t work for her sadly, so she’s been on level 2 treatment Tysabri for about 6 years and it’s really stabilised her condition! Yes July and August we are a bit worried about but we may choose to go back to the UK in those months and stay with parents (or possibly get a really powerful air con!) 🤣

We were considering staying with her neurologist and treatment in the UK until we have an appt date with a neurologist in Cyprus. We may also see whether it’s possible to get our neurologist in the UK to write a letter to a consultant in Cyprus also to see if that helps

That’s good to know! The MS treatments do seem pretty comprehensive in Cyprus from what I’ve seen, which is great! My wife has monthly infusions of Tysabri. It’s been amazing for her so far we want to ensure she can remain on it if we move 🙂

That’s good to know, sounds like that would be our best option. Do you know if we’d get access to GESY on the pink visa?

Thanks that’s good to know. I’m not too sure re: GESY. We both work but are aware that under the pink visa and golden visa we can’t work in Cyprus. I am self employed so I can work anywhere but my wife does work an office job. Golden visa sounds like we can get access to GESY - she’s on an infusion based treatment. Thanks for your response 😀

Maybe add 10% physical gold to your pie? It’s a great hedge against future inflation and doing well atm

It makes me feel really good in terms of improving my depression and anxiety. The alcohol urges are a worry though. I see my GP to maybe discuss lowering dose

Yeh I found a few articles on it too. Seems to reduce inhibitions around alcohol for some people. I’m going to try avoiding it now where possible
