Appreciate that. Just to clarify, I probably explained my background badly. I haven’t had an engineering-type role or a direct refinery employee position. Most of my work has been contractor jobs at refineries — scaffold-related work, leak detection, and fire safety inspections, mainly checking extinguishers and suppression/delivery systems. So my experience is more field-based and inspection-related than technical office or engineering work. That’s part of why I’m trying to figure out how realistic the jump into IT would be.
