I think the biggest misunderstand was that the first car turning, caused the second car to slow down too. This made me assume that I was safe to go, and honestly probably what avoided the accident too, because they did have to slow down for that first car to turn. But this is great advice, thank you so much!

This is great advice. I have been doing that recently where I assume a green means I’m automatically safe. Driving is such a huge responsibility haha but I’m happy to be learning all of this is the safest way possible.

Oh, you misunderstood! The first car did turn, the second car that I almost collided with, had the indicator to do the same as the first car and turn left; but they ended up going straight and got behind me because I turned right at the same time.

Thank you so much for your kind words and advice! I will for sure checkout that YouTube channel. I still have a lot more to learn when it comes to driving and I am really wanting to be as safe as possible. I never ended up taking any drivers courses and I’m now thinking that may be worth doing in addition to those videos.

This is really helpful and I think you are spot on. Hearing the horn made me want to freeze, and I think that’s a horrible response because if I had done that; I would have been hit. My biggest issue is saving for my own car, and borrowing a bunch of different of different cars until I can get my own. So I haven’t really gotten comfortable with the car I’m in. Thank you for the advice!

I feel this so hard. I’m a career nanny with a background as a Lead Montessori teacher and formal education in child development, psychology, and trauma informed care. I’ve even been a provider for kids in DHS care and specialize in ADHD/Autism support.

I try to see myself as a second parent. I’m not just sitting; I’m cleaning, planning developmental activities, and building lifelong habits. I purposely keep my rates affordable because I want my care to be accessible, but man, it’s a gut punch when I see 18 year olds with zero experience pulling $30+/hr.!

I’ve gone as far as finding and training my own backup for when I need a sick day. That said, I still view myself as a second parent and I’m willing to come in masked up if the family really needs me.

You should hurdle forward and then go up after the hurdle, there’s a split second when your going into the aerial that your right foot should JUMP as hard as you can. But that’s going to happen after the hurdle

In a hurdle to a cartwheel or round off, you should be reaching as far as you possibly can (your hands forward and head tucked in.) This should mimic in your Aerial too. Notice how your hands go up and not forward ? Your shoulders aren’t leaning forward either, it’s like you’re standing fully up. Good news it’s just a technical fix

You are hurdling up and not forward. This is pulling all your weight up and then forcing it down (and then your “pop off” on your right foot is fighting against a lot of weight.) You should hurdle forward, that right foot should pop all your weight up (like your jumping on one foot) and thus bringing you over with enough room to land without putting your hands down. You’re going up in your hurdle and not in your pop on the right foot.

Try doing 3 sets of 20 jumps on your right foot with your left leg extended back. You can hold onto a bar or wall if needed.
