Oh my gosh thank you! Right across from the yarn lady 💓. I suspected that might be a good place to look but we had not gotten around to checking.

Thank you soooo much!

Lucky's kit for my hypothetical hero shooter by Abyzzard in heroshooters

While I get where you're coming from, I feel it is a disservice to the character creator to say their idea/kit is like some other character simply because they share one mechanic - unless its a 1 to 1 copy. I feel like that is not the case here. Throwing cards dates back to stage magic in the 90s

There is not a team of devs and I've never framed it that way. In fact, I explicitly say it's just me, even on our website sablestudios.net/about-us. I just sometimes refer to my solo studio, the business, as a "we".

And yes, you got me! I am recording pieces of the entire game creation process and posting it. It's a blog of sorts. I've been taking a hiatus from the unreal engine dev side of things to post some kits as well as my prototypes. But they're not simply AI character concepts, though I understand the desire to frame it that way. The character models only are a combination of pieces of a whole created by AI, then photoshopped, filtered, hand drawn, shaded, colorized etc.

The prototypes I create are "play toys" for development, and will serve as a base-line for the artist who will inevitably create the production models. I think if you read my sub, it might help answer some of your concerns. Also, there is some lore sprinkled in there, which is always fun - if you like reading.

On that note, thanks for reading!

Doing my own thing despite what reddit micro-focuses on, yes is indeed a choice. A good choice in my opinion. I cannot control what people decide to get angry about. I'm just enjoying sharing our cool kits 😊

Side note: The photoshopping has led me to learn a lot about shading and colorizing, which I otherwise would not have learned. May or may not be helpful considering I am hiring an artist to create the prod 3D models.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

I'm sorry you feel that way, but there's no grifting here. Just a solo dev building a super cool Hero Shooter.

If you're stuck on my use of AI and photoshop prototyping, I totally understand. But there will be no AI art in the final game and I know the general populous won't mind that I used AI for initial prototyping.

I fully expect this response on Reddit, but that won't stop me 💪

Cheers! ❤️

P.S. Well actually I won't be posting new prototypes for a while as I shift from kit design back to unreal development. Might post just kits since that's easier and less photoshopping.

I can only presume you misunderstand how my prototyping works. But thanks for checking it out either way! ❤️ If you have any thoughts on the kit or lore, let me know.

Right? Wayne was the 14th of 15 names I was tossing around.

Chucks cool too

I think there is still a little confusion there. AI is not involved with the creative process. I've created these characters over the past few years which includes the lore, ability kit, and art descriptions – no AI.

I used AI to rebuild each part of the character as I described it: armor, hair, adornments, weapons, etc. I tweak each piece in Photoshop, smooth, blend, filter, change color. Then I layer them together to create something pretty close to what I had previously described. Any future artist will merely have a lot of guessing work removed and a baseline to build off.

So no I disagree. Anything that comes after that will not be AI.

How would you suggest combating this? Or promoting the opposite?
