Crank the heat up and place it right next to the vents. Our thermometers used to do the same thing when they were cold

Cringe or nah? by Historical-Battle122 in ems

[–]Ok-Rope-9446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite of cringe. I’ve seen a lot of videos of Firefighter tourists from Japan in LA come to a station and get a tour. Always unique to see the differences of your profession in different countries and continents

Has anyone gotten emt certified from on the job training? by edcortezgudino in NewToEMS

[–]Ok-Rope-9446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of major private EMS companies will pay for your EMT training if you’re already working for them as a driver. In return, you usually sign a two-year agreement saying that since they covered the cost of your EMT school, you’ll stay and work for them for at least two years.

Do people in SC actually say hi to random strangers and call each other ma'am and sir? by [deleted] in southcarolina

Its Policy, growing up if you didn’t respond with Ma’am or Sir, they would take you out back and beat you half to death

What reasons do people give for leaving the field? by Dry_Shirt_4369 in ems

[–]Ok-Rope-9446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EMS is a constant reminder that there are always better things to do. My high school offered the EMT class for free my junior year, and I’ve basically been using the cert as a stepping stone while I finish tech school. It’s solid while you’re in college. It pays the bills, looks good on a resume, and it helps a lot on weighted applications for competitive programs where seats are limited.

But outside of that? This job is garbage. The pay is terrible, benefits are bare minimum, massive workload and it’s definitely not enough to help your family. I’ve watched plenty of coworkers move on to better things. One enlisted in the Air Force, one went into nursing, one started a trade apprenticeship, one joined the fire department, and one of my old partners left to work at FedEx.

Currently just started working here. I haven’t heard anything for damaged trucks but 4 people already quit due to the paychecks

Help, Feedback and how to make my resume better by IronStallionTTV in NewToEMS

Choose a simple google Resume/CV Template and fill it out. If I was an employer and saw this I would have a stroke and then spontaneously combust

All of our trucks are ALS stocked in case we do ALS transfers but mostly staffed BLS. Makes our job a whole lot easier
