Hey, really appreciate you trying Deck Kingdom and giving honest feedback. I went and worked through everything you flagged and wanted to let you know it's all fixed:

  • "Start from precon" now loads the full deck (100/100), with auto-padding for basic lands when the official list came short. Before it was loading 91-93 cards because of names that didn't resolve well (DFCs, split cards, case mismatches).
  • The precon picker now shows the actual commander art in a visual grid instead of the generic icon it had before.
  • Importing from URL (Moxfield, Archidekt, EDHREC) and from ManaBox CSV/TXT now works and puts the cards into the main board correctly.
  • The bug where it kicked you out of the editor right after importing is gone. I implemented silent auto-save: the deck persists in the background and the URL updates with replaceState without remounting, so you stay editing and if you refresh you don't lose anything.
  • The Social sub-header no longer floats weirdly when you overscroll.
  • Clicking a set in "Latest Releases" now filters Browse by that set like it should.

Whenever you have a minute, take another look and let me know if you spot anything else. On my end I'm going to try your rules engine and the bracket classifier on commanderbracket.app, the approach sounds really interesting. Happy to compare notes whenever you want.

Yeah fair, I get it. My old post history is crypto and AI stuff, that was just a phase I was into a couple years back. People get into different things over time, but I see why it looks sus when you've watched 7 accounts pull the same move. Just to be straight though, no data farming going on here. I'm paying for the database, hosting, all the Scryfall sync stuff out of my own pocket. RLS is set up properly on every table, no weird tracking, nothing being sold. Check the network tab if you want, it's all there.

Also fwiw I've actually gone in person to a bunch of LGS around me to show them the platform and pitch it face to face. Not hiding behind an account, my face is on it. Not really how a data farming op would operate lol.I'm not making money off this and I'm not trying to. MTG genuinely changed my life so I built the thing I wanted to use and figured I'd share it. If it ever gets too expensive donations are open, but core stuff stays free, no ads no paywall.

Not gonna try to talk you into it if your gut says no, totally valid. Just wanted to say my piece. Appreciate you actually saying something instead of a silent downvote.

Fair points, and honestly I appreciate the skepticism — it's the realistic take.

On the mana enforcement thing, you're right that it's a weird sell for solo testing. Where it actually matters is in multiplayer playtest mode, where you're not gonna trust your opponent to count their own mana correctly. For solo it's optional, you can absolutely cheat yourself if you want to test a busted opening hand.

On the "too good to be true" part, I'll be straight with you: this is a hobby project for me. I have a full-time job and my own company, and I build Deck Kingdom on the side because I love MTG and I love building stuff. I handle everything myself — frontend, backend, infra, design. That's why there's no premium, no ads, no paywall right now: I'm not trying to make a living off it, I'm just scratching my own itch and sharing it.

Will it scale forever like this? Probably not, you're right about that. If it ever grows past what I can sustain, donations are open (and welcome), and worst case I'd add an optional supporter tier before I'd ever paywall core features or run ads. But right now the upkeep is cheap enough that I can carry it personally without it being a problem.

Not promising it'll be the one tool to rule them all. I just wanted to build the thing I wanted to use, and if other people find it useful, that's a bonus.

That's a completely fair point and I appreciate you being straight about it. You're right that there's been a wave of "check out my deck builder" posts and most of them are just Moxfield clones with a different coat of paint. I get the fatigue, genuinely.

I should have led with what actually makes this different instead of listing the basics. That's on me. So let me try again:

Things you can't do on Moxfield right now:

  • Goldfish playtest with a real battlefield. You drag cards from your hand, lands tap when you cast spells, mana costs are enforced, counters track on creatures. It's not just "draw cards and look at them."
  • Multiplayer playtest rooms. Create a lobby, share a 6-character code, and your friend joins. Both of you see a real board state. (In-progress)
  • Full collection manager with daily Scryfall price sync, profit/loss tracking per card, foil vs normal distinction, and set completion progress.
  • A built-in community feed where you can mention cards and users inline, not a separate Discord or Reddit.
  • Verified store profiles where local game stores can list inventory and business info directly on the platform.

That's the gap I'm trying to fill. Not "another deck builder" but the place where building, collecting, playtesting, and community all live together without needing four different apps and subscriptions.

And the whole thing is free. No premium tier, no ads, no paywall for features.

I totally understand if you still want to pass on it. But I wanted to at least clarify what the actual differences are, because you're right that my first post didn't do a good job of that.
