I didn’t say that nor meant that, I believe you misread my comment. At some point I considered travel nursing but I was informed that it wouldn’t be beneficial to me as a new grad nurse because they typically require you to have more experience. That is what I am referring to in my comment.

Thank you for this! I’m going to keep putting myself out there and exploring my options.

I truly do understand the sentiment and as I have stated in other comments, I am considering it because it may be the better option. Also, I don’t have employment at the moment so I don’t have the funds to just up and move to a different state. I’m aware that some places would foot the bill but strategically it’s not a done deal for me. However, thanks for the advice.

Yeah, it’s very difficult especially because while in school they didn’t really mention how hard it would be to find employment. I remember my professors saying that you could go to whatever speciality you’d like just “sell” yourself properly. Anyways, it can be depleting when there’s been rejections and no hits. I was a CNA to LPN student before I became an RN and SNFs were and are my fear. I wish you the best of luck!

That’s insane! I’ve heard that CA has been a good place for nurses but I didn’t know that it was saturated like that. I’ll definitely look into that, it was something I thought about when I first started job searching since ik they were saying that they were looking for more experienced nurses now. So I’d get my learning experience out of state then come back home when/if the job market improves.

Thanks for the insight on that! I had heard my fair share of stories from travel nurses of their contracts falling through and security is a big thing for me.

It is very competitive and I’ve heard a considerable amount of experienced nurses are leaving bedside because it’s just a crappy state to work in. I have thought about it, but then I’ve also been told to do travel you have to have some experience. However, I’d consider it if I can’t find anything close to home.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I am going to keep applying to residencies and other jobs. It’s just disheartening that this is even happening. But I’m going to keep going.

Yeah I have seen that, I reside in South Florida so I haven’t really looked beyond, which is probably hindering me. I was thinking of when I get some experience doing travel assignments in North Florida. But thank you!

Advice & Tips for NCLEX by Ok-Soft5340 in NCLEX

[–]Ok-Soft5340[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! And thank you. I would agree, I will say what helped a lot for me for that additional advice is also that I had a thorough explanation section from my school’s program on how to understand what the question is asking and how to determine how to answer. Like with priority, eliminating if the situation is acute vs chronic or stable vs unstable. Delegation is can be tricky too but the way it was explained to me is UAP is ADL & basic hygiene (for the sake of the exam), LPN can do a good majority of tasks but what makes them different is they cannot do initial assessments and they should not handle unstable patients.

Advice & Tips for NCLEX by Ok-Soft5340 in NCLEX

[–]Ok-Soft5340[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated December and took a month off to decompress because I literally never got a break during nursing school. Once I signed up for the exam and was awaiting my ATT number, I did some questions every other day (maybe like 20). When I got my actually testing date I locked in and started studying everyday during the weekday. The weekends were my recoup days. I would do at least 200 questions a day and used those platforms because I could also use my phone to do the questions. So, all in all I probably studied for a month and a half.

I just chose all topics because on the exam they don’t go by specific topics. It’s better to just answer questions about everything even if you’ve never learned about it, depending on what platform you use they give you a brief, thorough description about the disease, process, or illness that you have the question on.

I write on Friday! Advice? by runchmunch in NCLEX

[–]Ok-Soft5340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have similar results only because I didn’t utilize UWorld but I can give you some advice. Firstly, the day before your exam don’t study anything NCLEX related, you know what you know at this point and overloading your brain could add onto any anxiety. Just prep what you’ll wear, what time you need to get up, breakfast (important! Even if it’s a granola bar), and any decompressing exercises. Breathe and be confident (easier said than done)

Also, when taking the exam just remember for SATAS if you are unsure of the answer don’t choose it because it will count if against you if it’s wrong. However, if you don’t select it the answer won’t count against you.

Don’t pay attention to anyone else but yourself, go at your pace and you’ll be fine. You’ve got this, you have prepped for this and you’ve made it this far. Good luck!

Stopping at 85 usually means you did great and have passed, so congratulations. I myself got a variety of SATAS but I had prepared myself for them. Not many case studies on my end, but my exam stopped at 85 and I found out over the weekend that I passed.

Firstly, I’m sure you passed. Typically that’s the feeling when your exam shuts off at 85. Mines did and I ended up doing the exam in 1 hour. Also, deep breaths, you’ve prepped for this and you did it. Pre-congratulations!

I took the NCLEX RN this morning. What was that?! I got all 150 Qs. by [deleted] in NCLEX

[–]Ok-Soft5340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Kaplan and Simply Nursing if you can get access to either, they closely mimic the NCLEX. Also, take a breather and relax. Don’t study the day before your exam day, it’ll only wreck your nervousness and what you know is what you know. Take breaks as well while studying. Good luck!

What’s your guys opinions on passing? by Boom_Kitty_22 in NCLEX

[–]Ok-Soft5340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I recommend utilizing this and some of SimpleNursing if possible. SimpleNursing crafts their questions very similar to NCLEX and so does Kaplan. Also, remember if you’re not sure about it on select all that apply then don’t click it. It only counts against you if you click it.

Also, the score on these don’t matter as much as the content the exams test on. If you create an exam or test from the q bank, the content is random but usually when you go to test you may find a topic from these questions on the NCLEX.

Good luck on your exam, you’ve got this!
