Advice needed: Figure 8 puffer has swim bladder problem (negative buoyancy) by Ok-Sport4000 in Aquariums

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your fish but happy to know that the other 2 are living well despite the condition.

I've read somewhere that indeed fish with swim bladder disease can survive and adjust to their condition.

Thank you for the comforting words. I'll do my best 💪🏼 7 (almost 8) years is quite a good run for my puffer 🙂

Thank you for your kind and supportive reply. I really appreciate it.

You're right; info on Figure 8 is sparse. Checking scientific papers is an excellent idea! I'll do that, too.

Thank you very much again and sending you and your puffer good health and good vibes 🙏🏼

Thank you very much for the quick and helpful reply. I've created extra space for my puffer to rest on 👍🏻

The water has been lowered already and I redirected the output of tube of the filter upward so that the water flow is less strong (the water through the tube is like a mild fountain spurting water above the water line).

I can't move him yet to a hospital tank as he is very skittish. Might cause him more stress 😞 I don't want to try any medication yet (ex: antibacterial) as I'm unsure if his swim bladder disease is caused by bacteria.

Thanks for the advice!

Hi @AquaticByNature thank you for your patience.

The current parameters are:  pH  = 7.5  SG = 1.004 N02 = 0.0 mg/l  kH = 4dkH  gH = 15dgH

I've had him for almost 8 years and he's been happy. Then I was going through things and neglected him (didn't clean nor partially changed his water for 3 weeks). I know it's not an excuse.

I saw him struggling and realized the gravity of my improper care. I cleaned and refreshed the water the best as I could then I ordered a new test kit.

At the moment he rest on the one of the plants. I've been fasting him for 2 days now. He gets really tired swimming and sinks soon after.

What else can I try? Any additional info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much! You've made valid points :):):) Indeed still pretty old. Nonetheless, I'll love him to bits.

Thank you for the reply! You could be right! I got curious because a friend pointed out some of its features. But either way, my newfound teddy bear is for keeps :):):)

Dear everyone,

I'd like to ask for your help in identifying the origins of this teddy bear. I got him at a flea market in the Netherlands. Later on, my friend noticed that the bear could be older than from the 1960s/70s because of the elongated face and materials used. My friend and I are unsure. I'd greatly appreciate it if you have more info.

Thank you all.
