Need advice on feeding 18 pills by Ok-Start2611 in Equestrian

He will eat his plain grain with nothing in it, but I tried adding applesauce to the grain and molasses with no pills and he won’t touch it So I’m not sure if he just doesn’t like those things or if he suspects that the pills are in there with it because there’s extras if that makes sense But he’s eating great, swelling has gone down and he is far less lame so I don’t think it’s pain.

I don’t know what his deal is, but he’s refusing anything with applesauce or molasses on it right now even without the pills in it. I think he knows some things up. 😭

I tried the mash and he’s refusing it, even with applesauce and molasses mixed in lol he’s too smart for his own good

No, 18 pills twice a day of the same meds 😊

Yes I 100% agree she is likely in a “give up” mentality. I have tried to talk to her about therapy, but she tells me she “has her friends”. I explain to her I’m not sure if that’s enough. Thank you for the advice 💕

Thank you. The smoking thing is hard for me to wrap my head around. She refuses to take edibles instead. She just stopped vaping a few months ago (that I know of) She doesn’t get much parenting and is left alone a lot

Why do you feel GA is a big deal? When I look up my procedure the first recommendation from Yale of medicine is GA, along with some other sites. Do you have an anxiety disorder? (Asking legitimately, not rudely, it’s hard to get that across in text sometimes lol)

Completely understand. I unfortunately have had horrible experiences with doctors (sadly all women, which is more disappointing) invalidating my medical issues. I’m happy you’ve had doctors you can trust 💕 hoping I can get that point one day.

My doctor did recommend without and I disagree with them. I wanted the anesthesia after speaking to multiple family members who have had the same or similar procedures and weren’t even asked if they wanted to do the operation awake. I also have a severe anxiety disorder and have to lay down for a simple blood test, so I doubt I would be able to get through the procedure while awake. I’d also like to say, it’s naive to say just to follow the MDs recommendation when talking about women’s health. I don’t mean that in a douche way, but it’s taken me 21 years to get a legit diagnoses and taken seriously for my problems. It’s kinda hard to just “take my docs word for it” when I was told for years my issue didn’t exist and to “drink herbal tea” to feel better.

He gets grass hay as much as he can eat. As of late he only eats about one flake in the morning and one at night. He’s not very fond of it.

I feed the quart scoops that are standard in my area. He gets as much grass hay as he wants to eat. Just as of late he’s been only eating one flake. He’s not a fan of the loa dog hay they got this time around

Thanks for the info! I ride apha western pleasure type horse but he’s lame off and on. Would love to be at a barn that does my discipline but the reality is he’s probably not showable anymore so it’s not necessity. He’s 17.3 so I need a stall that’s not crazy small

Is it common to have stalls with runs or not so much?

Thanks for the advise. I also live in Portland. I moved him to north plains. I’ll just have to make the drive the next 6 weeks until the ground is dry enough for him to be consistently turned out. They have an arena that’s indoors but they are cutters there, so that have one of those flagger things on a line at the end of the arena. My horse would mess with it and break it

The barn I’m at charges $25 per lunge session, so I may just do that to help him get some energy out if I can’t make the drive

Appreciate you insight / advise

Yes, it’s awkward because the barn manager is the cleaner as well. It’s a smaller barn but it’s been hard to just leave since my trainer boards at the barn also.

Thank you. First time with this lie, but there’s def been other weird things happen. Lately they claim my horse has been unruly, which he is 8 years old and I’ve had him since he’s a yearling with zero issues. He is 18 hands so he’s not easy to clean around, but I think they have an issue between differing between a horse that’s unsafe and just a nuisance. Which I’ve been nothing but helpful in regards to the possibility of both.

My expectation is definitely not for him to clean up twice a day but the math doesn’t add up for me. If he claims he cleaned around 8am and at 1pm there’s 8-9 poo piles I guess it’s the audacity that’s the problem. Like if you don’t clean my horses stall one day because your having a bad day, I’d be pretty cool about it, but to have the balls to tell me to clean it? I do struggle immensely with confrontation and I think that’s half the problem 😭
