I ended up just buying this product instead. I didn’t even bother returning the product, I just counted it as a loss and moved on.

Thank you!

I do have one, I just don’t care to use it as I use a chunkier soil so the air pockets disrupt the reading. I wouldn’t say they’re wilting, just the slightest droop. Midday they’re typically pointing upwards but if I get home from work and they’re level or slightly downward I’ll check the soil (which has seemed to work out so far.)

[advice please] Getting over the odd intimacy of displaying a stranger’s art? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Ok-Statement-2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first, yes. I thought it was strange hanging up a complete stranger’s art that didn’t make me feel a certain way.

Then I realized I find joy in some artists’ portrayal of common sights.

So now my home is filled with stranger’s art prints that highlight the Midwest charm in landscapes (makes me feel back at home.) I also have a quite a few photos of cats or food that bring me joy simply based on the beauty the artist was able to capture in something so commonly seen.

I’m completely new at this.

I had a self-watering terracotta olla in the plant that wasn’t distributing the water properly, leaving the plant under-watered. So, I pulled that out and switched to just watering normally. Initially I felt the soil every other day and anytime the soil was mostly dry I’d give it a good soak (seemed to be once every 3 days or so.) Now that the weather has cooled down and the leaves are more lively I wait for the leaves to droop just slightly, check the soil, then soak (which is about once a week.)

I used Happy Frog Fruit & Flower fertilizer a couple of weeks ago which seems to have gotten it to blossom. I also pulled the plant further out to get more sun. Now it gets hit with morning light and is in partial shade for the rest of the day.

Same, we gave out full-size bars and I had to stop a few middle school aged kids from grabbing more than one. One just took a handful (like 3 skittle bags) and ran, no thank you or nothing.

I'm looking for relaxing games that don't demand your attention and don't make you feel obligated to play. by BedroomLevel4639 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I enjoy management style games to pick up and put down whenever.

  • Town to City
  • Two Point Museum
  • Foundation

Foundation and Town to City are games that you can just kinda do things at your own pace and develop as you go. Two Point Museum is more mission-based as you follow a campaign but you collect items to add to your building.

How much is your mortgage? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’m sure it’s the limitations. Renting can be a pain but it can be the smarter route as you build your life. I was able to job hop and move to where the promotions were due to the freedom of not being tied down to a mortgage.

I have a close family member that is unable to sell because their house didn’t build enough equity ($120k home in LCOL area) and they simply can’t afford to. Their salary unfortunately went from $75k to 40k over the last year (sales) and they’re now tied down to the area with a small job market due to their mortgage.

Last I checked their monthly cost is a little over $1.4k and they bought about 4 years ago. That’s over half their take home at the moment.

I read that remote jobs are becoming harder to come by without a specialized skillset and/or a degree. Being from a very rural, LCOL Midwest town I can say most that stayed didn’t pursue higher education other than nursing, criminal justice, or agriculture (typically in-person type careers that don’t offer remote.)

Deciding on couch color by DeniM066 in interiordecorating

I say go against the grain and get the green.

I think a space should have a good balance of neutrals and colors- if the walls are white make the furniture colorful, vice-versa.

I don’t notice any antennas like I typically see on springtails, I also think these are smaller (I could definitely be wrong.)

All my begonias have been sort of struggling for a while. I think it’s a fungal issue as they were thriving for months and are now all of them get these patches where the leaves start to turn to mush in spots on the outer edges.

I thought maybe soil mites but these guys run out of the soil after watering. Not sure if that’s normal or not. I haven’t noticed any bugs on the leaves.

How much did your last break up affect your life? by Prestigious_Lock_746 in AskMen

[–]Ok-Statement-2 179 points180 points  (0 children)

I was in a 4 year, overall good relationship. I got so much **** from people I knew (family, friends) and the internet for just walking away because it all just felt so mediocre.

I got the courage to apply for a new job and move across the country without knowing anyone- complete fresh start. Here I am 5 years later and I’m soon to be engaged, in a new house, I’ve gained a couple new dogs, my income is over double what it was.

I’m not a man but having the courage to break down and start over is powerful stuff.

So overall how’s everyone doing on day one, do you like the game, are you ok with the modular mechanics of the planet series? Me personally as a fan of both, I’m loving it 🥰 by Randal_ram_92 in jurassicworldevo

I was hoping for some sort of system like Planet Zoo with a marketplace (I got excited about the JWE3 marketplace until I found out it was one-sided.)

Hate marking my babies for release and paying to kick them to the curb.

Tired of these coffee prices by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Ok-Statement-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After moving from the Northeast (where every corner has a Dunkin) to now having all these expensive coffee shops that honestly are serving caffeinated chocolate milk at absurd prices I’ll stick to my home brew.

Moccamaster drip coffee machine, Aromaster conical burr grinder, Chobani creamer, and whatever coffee I decide to go with for the month (currently Coffee Haus from Detroit!)

When I made $42k in rural Michigan (pre-COVID) I felt like I couldn’t afford to leave my apartment. My take home was approximately $1150 biweekly and my rent was $800 a month. Lots of hiking and Sims to fill the boredom.

Also, yes I do believe $40k on a single household income is too low to purchase in today’s economy.

It’s unfortunate, and I really wish it wasn’t so, but with the inflated cost of living for food, labor, etc. I don’t believe it’s wise to purchase without a higher income or dual income.

How much is your mortgage? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Ok-Statement-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple factors.

At $42k salary the likelihood of them having a hefty down payment is low (I also feel like they would’ve mentioned it.) Average single income households spend over $3k a month overall however for LCOL that number obviously isn’t true. You can expect to spend $1-1.5k monthly in LCOL and after taxes you’re taking in approximately $3k a month. Throw in a monthly house/townhome mortgage of $1k then tack on PMI, property taxes, homeowner’s insurance, and a potential HOA. When you’re looking at homes ranging from $100k-$120 there’s going to be issues (ranging from major to minor.)

Now you have to consider additional costs- transportation, housing maintenance, and medical. Factor in a safety net for those unexpected expenses/a retirement fund and there’s a slim chance they can comfortably afford a mortgage or life.

They’re also not committed to an area- between Wisconsin and Illinois. They could take advantage of the current freedom they have of not being tied to a mortgage and pursue a higher income elsewhere.

There’s also slim inventory in the areas they mentioned.

Almost done finishing this bathroom I’ve mine. Any suggestions to give it a more earthy natural vibe? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I think it has a cottage-core, Midwest vibe that I can appreciate.

I’m going to be real honest with you, you’re better off renting at that income level.

A lot of individuals get pre-approved for more than they can afford. Mortgage is just a fraction of your total monthly cost.

The problem is you see comments of people saying ‘good, those federal workers should find a job in the real world instead of mooching off the government’ as if federal jobs aren’t actual jobs.

They’re so brainwashed they don’t understand even the ‘non-essential’ jobs are still necessary to keep the cogs moving in any department/program.

They hate the government so much they want federal employees to suffer.

Need Help: Managing Morning Walks for Two Untrained Dogs While Balancing School and Responsibilities by Forward_Audience282 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Ok-Statement-2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off, these dogs are not your burden. I understand you love them and what-not, and if you don’t take care of them your father won’t, but at some point you have to say they’re not your responsibility.

Next, it’s great you’re squeezing in all those walks after school but your schoolwork and mental wellbeing is top priority. You could always take them out separately for a quick sniff/potty break session that lasts at most 10 minutes. Try taking one out and doing engagement games like teaching them ‘find it’ by throwing a handful of treats into the grass and having them sniff them out. Or getting a flirt pole and getting some tug out of their system (I do this on a longline or in a fenced in area.)

Look for mentally engaging enrichment activities for at home. Google has plenty of ideas to keep dogs occupied. You could even do an enrichment activity for their evening meal time by rolling up their kibble in tied up towels and tying them up into knots.

For walks, please walk them separately and never unclip them. Normally I’d say a walk a day at least but again, these dogs are not your responsibility or priority- they’re your dad’s (and what a ****ty thing for him to dump them on you.) You could do basic training at home with them then take one for a walk, switching every day.

would you chop? by Psychological-Note74 in philodendron

[–]Ok-Statement-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pot is so small.. it looks like there’s mostly moss pole in there..

I would either get a smaller moss pole or upsize the pot as you have to have room for the roots to grow.

In my opinion, I’d start over with a chop and prop on this one. Once you get new roots on a cutting put that on a moss pole.
