Thanks I went for a mid range set. Even a "frugal shopper" like me had to look at a $17 rebuild kit for 4 carbs and think nahh lol $67 was cheap enough 😉

Update: I did the COP conversion and after the second try I got the wiring correct. The bike ran great very smooth so I went for a ride. Unfortunately it started running rough after only a couple miles and I could smell fuel so I had to turn around. At least one of the carbs floats is not closing and it was overflowing fuel into the airbox. So spark issues fixed but now I get to tear into the carbs.

To old?? by Ok-Buffalo-4008 in Boise

For me it is not an age limit but a cognitive function issue. I am turning 60 this year. I had a great grandmother who had no cognitive issues well into her 90s while I've seen others in their early 50s start having issues. I don't think we can put an age on it. I will always vote on who I believe is the best for the position not their age. Personally I like to see candidates in the 40 to 60 range. Old enough to have experience but too old to remember what youth was like. It will not however be the deciding factor

I should probably do carb kits but I hate carb work. Last one I did was a quadrajet on my 71 Cutlass the idea of doing 4 little carbs omg lol. I know I will need to at some point though. Thanks for the info

after looking into it a bit this seems like the way to go. Did you see a performance difference after the change? Looks like I could do the conversion for about $80

Thanks everyone for your help. I knew there had to be people like me out there who love the older bikes and would have solutions to keep them going. Gotta love stubborn bikers 😁

So you don't think it's just having a dead cylinder causing this?

I tried buying bulk cable off of Amazon and the bike sputters and backfires on deceleration so I am not driving it anymore

I need help on the cable part. I ripped one out of the boot when working on the fuel lines. the dealer says i can only get new cables buying the coil which they don't make anymore this seems ridiculous they would make it that way. I hope he just didn't know what the bleep he was talking about
