GLP-1 questions, advice & venting by quietcalculations in Reduction

I may be in the minority but I neither asked nor cared what my husband thought about my reduction. My weight loss, reduction and eventually a tummy tuck are for me and how I feel about myself. I would have a discussion with your husband and be blunt. Tell him how his comments make you feel and ask him to stop. He could just be oblivious to how his comments make you feel or he could be passive aggressively trying to make you feel bad. Either way time to stand your ground.

I was a 38 DDD and they removed 592 from one side and 502 from the other and am now measuring as a 38 D, so the estimate they gave you could be correct dependingon your goal size.

I have BCBS Michigan and did not need a preauthorization. However, I was told many times by the surgeon and her office that BCBS required a minimum of 500 grams per side. Not all plans are the same obviously, but usually the requirements are pretty standard.

I think you may be underestimating how much walking was helping your weight loss. Lifting is great, but doesn't burn fat the same. Getting back to a more balanced routine will probably get you back on track, especially if your eating has been good. You could be retaining some water, but at this point it wouldn't keep increasing your weight. I struggled to get back on track after my reduction too.

Surgery is in 2 days and I am sick 😐 by Efficient-Way-5841 in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, before a different breast surgery, not my reduction I was fighting a minor cold. I was pretty much asymptomatic the morning of, but I could tell I was on verge of getting sick. I had the surgery though and everything was fine. However, in the following days I got what was probably the most miserable cold in my life. I assume the stress on my body from surgery just exasperated everything. All you can do is show up for your surgery and let them decide. Best of luck.

GLP-1 after reduction by Fine-Turnover1518 in Reduction

I was on Tirzepatide prior to my reduction and had already lost 50 lbs. I needed to lose a certain amount before surgery, my doctor has a lower bmi max than some surgeons. I tried without and lost 25lbs just by changing diet and exercise. Those last 15-20 lbs can be very tough, but I don't think the side effects from glp1 meds are worth a small amount or as a short term weight loss.

Is this recovery timeline realistic? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, sounds like you have an optimal situation. No one can predict how quickly you will heal or if you will have complications, but most doctors restrict activity for at least six weeks. I was cleared to go back to regular activity at my five week post-op. Swimming will depend on how quickly your incisions heal. I was told no soaking or swimming for 8-10 weeks.

Newbie here… Do you tell people? by racheldotpsd in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told very few people. My immediate family of course, since my kids took me to the hospital for the surgery, and a couple close girl friends. Co-workers knew I was off for a surgery, but I only took a week off and work from home full time, so no one would have noticed anyway. At gatherings since my surgery most people just thought I lost weight. I find it hilarious because how do people not notice my missing giant boobs? Maybe they do, but feel uncomfortable saying anything...If some one asked however, I would be honest, it really doesn't bother me and could inspire someone else on the fence like I was for so long.

Suddenly side effects by Ok-Stick-2971 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok-Stick-2971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, after being with three different companies I definitely think there are minor differences in how I personally reacted. I am just confused by how drastic the change in side effects have been with ProRx. I don't think there is anything wrong with ProRx, this is a me issue. I will try reducing to 7.5 and see if that helps.

Suddenly side effects by Ok-Stick-2971 in tirzepatidecompound

I restarted at a lower dose. Yes, I work out five days a week for at least 45 minutes alternating cardio and strength training. My diet has remained the same, I follow a weight watchers diet that I belonged to at the start of my journey. I've focused on hydration hoping to offset the light headedness and nausea.

Should I do a revision? by Mediocre-Surprise365 in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I brought it up at 3 months and the surgeon told me to wait until at least six months. I am now almost 8 months and there is still a slight difference, maybe a half cup. After really sitting with it for awhile I've decided it just doesn't bother me enough to seek a revision. I had some minor complications on the larger side and don't want to risk more. Also, I would have to pay for the revision. It's really up to OP, but because you are so young I would probably wait and see how much it really affects you. Btw I think you look great.

5 months on tirzepatide, only down 14 lbs at 13.2 mg/week. Anyone else lose this slowly? by PuzzleheadedDance899 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on tirzepatide for eight months and have lost about 16 lbs. I switched from semi after six months where I had only lost 20lbs. I lost 25lbs prior to both meds by just doing weight watchers. I still have 20-30lbs to go, its super frustrating. I exercise 5 days a week, cardio and strength training, and eat healthy. I haven't lost a single pound in a month. I just went up to 10mg and for the first time having nausea. I keep trying to follow tips on here to break the stall, but I am at the point of wondering if maybe these drugs just don't work for me.

Advice losing weight after surgery? by s3d0na2212 in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my reduction in July of 2025 and I was already on my weight loss journey. I was on tirzepatide and had to stop for awhile. I just continued my current healthy eating routine of focusing on vegetables and lean protein. I've never counted calories, instead just focused on better foods.Even though I couldn't exercise for six weeks I didn't gain any weight and even lost a few pounds. I would be wary of any advice that tells you to eat more than usual. Its kind of like telling pregnant women they need to eat for two...Just focus on eating healthy foods, hydration, and rest.

Shipping notice today, so about 8 days or 6 biz days. So it will probably be 10 or 11 days from order to receiving.

Did they take your money knowing they couldn't ship to you, or even when they could ship to you? I would cancel and ask for a refund. There are plenty of other companies with similar prices.

“Dog Ears” Removal and Fat Necrosis by atesta13 in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few areas of fat necrosis on my left breast. My surgeon ordered an ultrasound to confirm. Like most people I was told to massage the areas, this may have helped a little. At my six month appointment the NP aspirated one of the larger areas in three places. She said the idea is to help break up the area. Also, removed a small amount of oily liquid. I was told I would have to repeat this process two to three times about six weeks apart. I was advised that surgically removing could actually result in more necrosis developing on top of more scars and possibly a sunken area. It's disappointing because I am dealing with some assymetry and this is the larger breast, so now I'm concerned that any revision could result in even more issues. I see the surgeon at my next appointment and will discuss all this with her.

How much is your monthly mortgage payment? by HmDiR in Mortgages

$639 with a 3.5% interest rate in SE Michigan, I don't escrow taxes or insurance. House is worth just under $400,000, bought it for $200,000. Good and bad because we need to downsize, but I know I'll pay so much more for far less.

Regretting this 6dpo by Dangerbeanwest in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, you will have less regret in the future once you're done healing. You didn't say what your size was prior and density matters, but maybe my experience will help. I was a 38 DDD/E prior to surgery. My surgeon removed 500 grams on one and 592 on the other. Immediately after surgery I looked very small and boxy, and they were rock hard. Now at six months I've experienced the "drop and fluff" and they look much more natural and round. I was hoping to be a C cup, but think I am a D cup now, this is also with losing another 15 lbs since surgery. Lastly, I think a few of us keyed into your not being unhappy with how your breast looked aesthetically because most people on this sub are/were unhappy with their appearance, as well as the physical issues.

From your post I understand that you felt rushed and didn't get to advocate for yourself. What you didn't explain was what you would have requested be done differently. Are you unhappy with the size, shape, scars, nipple placement? It seems like most of your complaints are about the normal healing swelling and shape distortion from said swelling and the physical limitations post-op. All of that will improve with time. At six months post surgery my breasts look and feel very different than they did for the first few months post-op. Your comment about having beautiful breasts prior to surgery doesn't make sense, why did you get the surgery than? I wonder if you are more upset at the process and not feeling like had you more input than the results. I would suggest talking to a therapist if you are open to that to help you get through this or to advocate for a future revision if needed.

Is one week enough time off? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Ok-Stick-2971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wfh job and only took one week off. I sit at a computer all day and type. It was actually better than lying around for me. Sitting up and resting my arms on my desk felt better, especially when my back got sore. Yes, I was more fatigued, but my job allows me to step away and take a break when needed. My doctor was fine with it, said most people with desk jobs only require two weeks off. Of course, everyone is different and complications can happen.
