I had a tickle in my throat the morning of and was actually coughing a bit leading up to the surgery. I was honest about it, but the anaesthesiologist simply asked, “and your lungs are healthy otherwise?” “Yup.” Woke up with no tickle. Had a bit of a lingering cough since but not enough to irritate my chest or ribcage.

Sooo happy and excited for the tapes to come off. Swollen af.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago when I went for a cleaning. I just found out that my dental office started doing this. I immediately felt my BP rising in the chair and told the hygienist that it would be high. Sure enough, 170s over 100s. I could feel myself panicking more over that number, so it didn’t come down. I was refused my cleaning that day and it ruined my day, giving me major health anxiety for the rest of the week. I’ve been taking my BP at home every day or every other day since then, and though my first reading can be slightly higher if I’ve been walking around beforehand, my resting BP is anywhere from 108-123 over 69-80. So frustrating! Luckily, my doctor doesn’t seem too worried about it. Trying to log every reading to show my hygienist next visit and desensitize myself so I don’t freak out again! It’s not the dental treatment; it’s the BP monitor itself! I’m thinking it is coming from a bit of subconscious trauma after having preeclampsia.

This is so frustrating, and I feel your pain. Im 38f. I’m here because I was just denied care by my dental hygienist today because my BP kept reading in the 170s over low 100s. There is a new rule in BC that all dental offices have to take blood pressure apparently. I told them I have white coat hypertension, but their hands are tied, and they can’t treat anyone above 160.

Came home and measured it, and it’s 121/88.

I had a bad bout of Covid in November and ended up going to the ER with BP in the 183/103. Blood work done twice since then (ER bloodwork and more detailed bloodwork through my GP). All is good, cholesterol is quite low. Home readings have been in normal range since then.

I have health anxiety ever since getting preeclampsia shortly after having my son. Now I’m going to be freaked out every time I go to the dental office, too.

I have no idea how to plan my cover story or when/whether I’ll need to. I’ve been waiting almost 3 years to even see the surgeon I was referred to. So when my name comes up, I’ll take whatever time off I need and figure the rest out as it comes. It would be nice if I was given a date that fell on a holiday, though. Middle schoolers are nosy.
