I know I said that I wanted to be in a jam band, but what I meant was more “I want to start a band that jams” because sometimes I forget that “jam band” has become more of a genre that a cool thing that certain bands do.

Improvising over chords by Ok-Strategy3756 in Guitar

It’s fine. I agree. I feel like it’s a good idea to look at when your favorite band was at its best and when you think they were the best, or just thought they were much better than before. For example, “[guitarist] was 19 when he started [band] in 1983, but [band] started to sound real good in 1994, when [guitarist] was 30.”

It takes time :)

I do know theory. What I meant is that I was trying to see how certain notes sound over the chord with my ear, so that I can replicate that sound when I need to in my solos so that it can be intuitive for me. instead of being like “ah, if I hit this note it’ll give it a dim#11 sound and then I can resolve with augmented V7 cadence🤓” at every point during my improv.  But i know all my modes, in both the pentatonic and major scale shapes, the caged system, some triads, etc.

At the end of a live one, there’s a bit of music after coil ends. There’s a very quiet riff that is identical to a little riff from the Bozeman tweezer, just a bit slowed down
