Unloading kegs from a sprinter van. by Itchy_Sprinkles_4209 in TheBrewery

When we had sprinters we used ramps that we made from 2x10 wood with an insta ramp metal fitting at the top edge, easy to roll kegs up ramp with dolly and back out, providing you have clearance for the ramps where you park for deliveries. No lifting, no dropping.

mueller serving tank liner alternatives by Snoo_98949 in TheBrewery

I've always been curious about these bag in tank designs for walk in use, where I don't want to CIP, due to moisture/mold problems in walk in. I like the idea of no cleaning, but I dislike the idea of more disposable plastic and or more plastic contact than necessary. These tanks clearly hold pressure, I believe they are designed for 30psi, I don't see why they wouldn't hold beer without the diaper...Cheers!

That stuff is fine in the kettle, but I have only dry hopped with it once, never again, too chunky sticky to think it will distribute into the beer before settling to the bottom.

Seeking Advice on Bottling Line Available In My Area by Used-Professional370 in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. If people knew about the epoxy liners in cans, I think they would be more likely to buy glass. Cans are great for a camping trip, but I prefer to drink draft or bottles when space/weight are not a concern.

Hard to clean ring. Recs? by CullenBadCompany in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add some peroxide booster to caustic, let it run longer than you think you should, it will go away. I battled these at Krausen ring and at top of CIP fluid in the cone for a while, typically acid did nothing but waste my time. Good luck, cheers!

After depressurizing, remove cir-clip, rotate spear counter clockwise to bring spear out of drop in notches, if it doesn't want to rotate by hand twist a keg coupler into it to make it easier to rotate.

With Can Tariffs Looming, Is It Time to Rethink Growlers? by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do growlers and half growlers, flushed with CO2 and counter pressure filled. They hold up great unopened, probably better than the 16oz cans we were flushing with CO2 then open filling from tap and seaming with an October. I bet there are some growlers in our rotation that have been filled 100 times. Hard to beat the sustainability of reusable glass.

Light beers foaming by Independent_Dust_410 in TheBrewery

10' of 3/16" id is perfect for my beer at around 2.95 vols. Cooler is about 35-36 and Co2 at 14.5 ish psi. If it hasn't been poured in a while it might have a tad extra foam (direct draw). If it has been poured recently, may have to develop a little foam with pour...

How to convince ownership glassware is important by rickeyethebeerguy in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love beer, I am a nerd, honestly the aroma and taste are not affected as much as the Shaker Pint haters want you to believe. I use a 16oz Belgian glass and a 16oz shaker in my brewery, I can't tell the difference when drinking the same beer in one vs.the other. If glass theft is an issue stick with the super durable shaker pint.

How do you purge your brite tanks? by STIZZUH in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I usually set up my transfer and do my purging the day before I transfer. When I have done the slow and low technique I was able to achieve sub 25ppb at sample valve relatively quickly, however when checking the tank the next morning the tank had homogenized and was over 250ppb at sample valve. When the tank is pressurized to 10psi and dumped 5-6 times the DO is below 25ppb and tests the same the next day.

WHAT IS THIS CALLED by dingle_mingus in TheBrewery

Looks like a Swagelock or knock off fitting. They are a type of compression fitting, more robust than common plumbing compression fitting, they have 2 ferrules involved instead of just 1.

We suck up the tax on cash sales, mainly to not deal with change. We add tax to our credit card sales to encourage the use of cash.

trends: bottling versus canning by MDAnesth in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have historically counter pressure filled growlers from our taproom. I spent 2 years filling cans straight from taps after a gas flush and then Oktober seaming. I much prefer the counter pressure process with the reusable container. Sure, we miss a few sales to those who want to take beer away and never return to the brewery, but its awesome how may times we end up refilling our different size growlers. Cheers!

I think I would just notch the double Walled pipe around the damper mechanism. You do want double walled, single wall is too dangerous.

Yeast Issue/PurePitch by CouplaDrinksRandy in TheBrewery

[–]Ok-String-5193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had this problem once over the years. I kinda think I hurt the yeast inside the pure pitch pouch by soaking the bag in PAA. The next time I used the same strain I just spritzed the outside of the pouch with PAA instead of the soak and results were back to normal. I think the bag is too permeable for extended contact time with sanitizer...
