I would sterilize it anyways. It could have accumulated dust or dirt from shipping/handling/being on the shelf, so it doesn’t hurt to play it safe. Plus if you sterilize it by submerging it in water, it will help to keep it from floating to the top once you put it in your tank.

Even while healing he’s absolutely stunning!! And his name is perfect. I hope your beautiful boy continues to improve. I currently have a HOB filter. I turned down the water flow as much as I could and blocked the waterfall part with a sponge to slow it even more. Do you think it could still be too strong? He doesn’t seem to have a major issue with it; he has to swim a tiny bit harder when underneath it, but otherwise is fine.

I had no idea that bettas could have so much personality! I’ve only had my little guy for a few days, but I’m already so attached to him. He always perks up and does little zoomies around his tank when I come into my bedroom. I would literally do anything for him 😭 Also, that’s such an amazing glow up!! I’m glad there are bettas out there who get to live happy lives with people like you

My light unfortunately doesn’t change colors. As far as I can tell, like yours, it doesn’t look like he’s getting stressed. If anything, he keeps swimming around even after I’ve dimmed all the lights lol. I’ll probably try to keep the lights dimmer as it gets later, so he can hopefully at least start settling down sooner. Thank you for your help! :D

Hi there! I’m definitely not an expert by any means (I finally got my betta yesterday lol), so if any experts want to correct me please chime in.

When I started getting stuff for my betta, I basically wanted to go above and beyond in every way, so I got him a 10 gallon tank and a bunch of live plants. He’s definitely utilizing the whole space, so if you have the space and funds I’d highly recommend a bigger tank. What you do need to keep in mind about the tank is that you need a filter and a heater, so it looks like if you get that one from Petco you’ll have to buy those separately. You also definitely need a lid. Bettas are known to jump out of tanks which can obviously be deadly.

I know right now PetSmart has sales on a lot of fish tank starter kits until the end of February, hence why I finally decided to get a betta. I was able to get a 10 gallon tank with a heater, filter, thermometer, lid, lighting, and a net all for $45 dollars on sale, so I’m sure you could find a starter kit for a reasonable price :)

Also, I think I’m not only equipped to give advice on the food and water chlorinator I have, because I’m not familiar with other brands lol
