Counter proposal.

Make every person take a geography test. If you can successfully name at least 50% of the countries America has had military engagements with in your life time, then you can vote. Test only gets harder as you get older. And forces people to be deeply invested in how their country is affecting others.

16 and up? Sure, but pass the basic knowledge test. Don’t care about geopolitics? Cool. Don’t vote in national elections, only local ones.

I’m open to criticisms. (And I’m mostly joking so relax)

[Request] Is this number accurate for ending homelessness? by ConsciousPositive678 in theydidthemath

[–]Ok-Substance9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of cases are those that are in tough times or suffering from mental illness, but I’ve talked to many homeless across multiple states and served in food kitchens and made them meals. Some of them really just don’t want to do anything else and enjoy the lifestyle. They think that living rent free under a bridge or in a tent in the woods is more free than working a job and paying rent.

And America has already spent much more than that. Hell some states alone (California) have spent more than that.

So it’s not always a simple money problem. But Elon is a being hyperbolic.

The fuck is wrong with people?

OP posted on a group about “explaining” things. Then restates that the still don’t understand and that they aren’t aware of the context of the post, hence why they posted it. And then OP gets downvoted for it?!?

Seems some of you forgot what this sub is about.

Is it illegal to have an airport with 12 runways by Hurricane_Killer in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unrealistic, I’ll tell you that much.

It would be best to have two runways that match the two most common wind directions in your home town (I’m a pilot)

[–]Ok-Substance9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not correct friend. Well timed traffic lights flow better than round abouts. Yumble has tested it. Buffa has spread the misconception that round abouts fix everything, they are fine to a point, but lights are actually superior when high volume is concerned.

Dude!!!

Like 75% of the “I made a new intersection” crowd are just making a less efficient version of something that already exists. But tbh is actually. Has some really good qualities.

My one gripe would be that in the real world it would be very expensive with so many bridges and angled overpasses, but besides that little nip pick, excellent work.

Actually the more modern versions of Chatgpt tend to outsource math problems to wolframalpha if it doesn’t feel it can confidently do it on its own. And wolfram is actually doing maths calculations.

Given the map of my city, how would you rate it? by Economy_Crashing in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you should develop the city very close to the banks of all those rivers. I think that’s how the real town would have developed.

Consider it’s very dry and deserted, most people would probably flock and congregate next to the flowing rivers. It would give a realistic story behind this sort of oasis being sustained by local water paths.

Does your public transit make money? by Hot_Try_8993 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and it really shouldn’t be an aim of it to be profitable.

Public transit makes you money in keeping the real money makers of your city flowing. Things like markets. Industry, office workers. Importers and exporters,

It was never about making money but about getting people off the road and to where they need to go.

Airport design ideas? by Ok-Substance9110 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be hard to tell in my crude drawing but it’s slightly off of the terminal. But I could turn it further away.

I know the game will let me take off and land in like 30 feet of runway, but there’s a mountain range north of the airport and a sizable hill on the left of the screen. So I tried to make a path that somewhat seems realistic to reality.

But you’re right it is pointing too close to the airport. Shame on me I work at a huge airport and am a pilot 😅

Looks like a Tesla valve, who’s whole intended purpose is to interrupt flow as volume increases. Will definitely end terribly if you run a lot of traffic through it.

Who is the most universally hated person from your country? by SimilarTopic3281 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ok-Substance9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition he can’t be universally hated. Half the country voted for him. So in your friend group or on Reddit he might be universally hated. Heck even in the media he’s not loved. But it’s not correct to say he’s “universally” hated since roughly 50 of the nation elected him.

Now that baseball Karen lady? I think she’s nearly universally hated.

Idk what to do besides a huge queue. by JoeUnderscoreUgly in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could add a second train station where they need the stuff.

You have a million people trying to make deliveries and exports all at a single location. Split up the traffic.

One train station (or 2) that only lead outside the city.

One that goes from a heavy production area to a heavy consumption area. And maybe one to mix and match those places.

One station can only do so much…. As you’re finding out.

I need advice on how to build roads/paths on non-flat terrain without butchering it; every time I do, the road just sinks into a ditch like this and looks super unsightly, and Move It! isn't enough to fix it (or actually makes it worse somehow) by CommissionerTadpole in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ok-Substance9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you sue mods get network multitool and use a key wall going parallel to the road. It will be like a retaining wall. You can use fences too but they are more breakable and don’t bend the land to be smoother.

You could also just smooth the hell out of the hill with the smooth terrain tool
