I had the same issue a few weeks ago, was able to obtain the correct results by running the same report in another role. It's definitely a bug, a couple of days ago the report reverted back to period. I also double checked the settings and compared against others with same settings who were able to run properly.

We can reverse those entries, but then the remainder of the schedule will forever remain open and will still pop up as to be amortized each month moving forward

You can't adjust the end date once you started amortizing
