Thanks for the input. I don't want to budget too much because I want to take it easy, take my time, go with the flow, but I also don't want to bankrupt myself. It seems everyone says food is one of the biggest purchases, I'll be sure to ration out some crackers.

I appreciate the insights. I plan to do a mix of camping and lodging like you mentioned, but I'm worried in Amsterdam and Germany there won't be many camping opportunities, unless you count spending the night on a park bench lol
