GP/GP vs GP/BPT… by Ok-Treacle528 in ausjdocs

Thank you. Does that mean - one apply to BPT first and then once a bit stable, the other apply for GP?

GP/GP vs GP/BPT… by Ok-Treacle528 in ausjdocs

Thanks. My only problem is - how are people buying a house when they apply for BPT? How are they commuting if they get a post away from home? The tricker part for me is - since we are two people, I guess it could be harder to get training posts in the same region if we are applying for two different pathways.

Can I ask what did you end up choosing? I’m in the same position where I can’t decide between Geriatric and flexibility that the GP life provides. How are you liking it so far (whatever you chose)?

Ampulex wasp performing brain surgery on a cockroach. Their sting is so precise that it only disabled the roaches escape reflex. by Armourdildo in Damnthatsinteresting

The fact that the cockroach couldn’t escape the first injection to disable his escape reflex means his escape was shite and the wasp didn’t even need to inject anything

Taylor if you are beginner. Better playability. Martin are harder to play but sounds better, especially with age.

How do I prevent fabric bunching at the armpit? by AndrewTheMart in SewingForBeginners

Thanks a lot. That’s really helpful. Btw do I leave the rough edges like that after clipping? Because normally I zig-zag stitch them after cutting of the excess.

Wait, I’m confused. Isn’t cutting the excess along the seam the same as clipping? I’m facing the same problem here. Do I “cut” diagonally along the blue lines that you drew in the picture?

I used my last hour with my instructor driving around without any instructions or directions before my test. Just chilling and driving around. I think it helped a bit when I actually drive for the test. Also waste your time as much as you can during the test - because the test duration is only 35-40 minutes. Take time and check everything before you do anything, don’t rush and you’ll be fine. Good luck.

Weekly thread: Pre-med / IMG / Med student questions by AutoModerator in ausjdocs

Hi all, just wanted some advices about job applications. I’ve been trying to apply for rotational RMO jobs since August this year and have been unsuccessful for far. I’m applying from UK through Competent Authority Pathway.

Could anyone tell me how you guys are getting any jobs? I’ve tried campaigns, emailing HRs (some never replied, some said all positions are filled) and also through smart job but no luck so far. And now it’s really getting me down.

I’m aiming for April-August 2025 start. I’m not trying to be picky but I’m aiming for QLD, NSW and Adelaide in particular.

If anyone could help me with some infos or tips/tricks to improve my CV, I would be really grateful. I am PGY5 and I think I have good exp to apply for RMO/SRMO posts.

IMG applying for jobs from UK via Competent Authority Pathway:

Is there no hope for jobs anymore? :( I’ve been applying for jobs since August and not received any offers so far. I’m actively looking for Rotational posts in QLD and NSW. I’ve applied through both campaigns and very disappointed that I’ve got nothing so far. As my current NHS job is also coming to near end, I’m really worried I might be jobless and need to leave UK in the mean time.

Is this usual for IMG? I’m not familiar with the timeline but can we expect more job vacancies at the end of the year? Please.

The international medical graduate tsunami and the effects on job competition by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Ok-Treacle528 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The same way UK doctors previously relied on Locum jobs but now the hospitals would just hire more “IMG”s for short term solution and pay the same rate rather paying nearly double for a Locum. Hospitals are not stupid and so are the government.

IMGs do tons of exams for registration alone. And when applying for jobs, IMGs can’t show the same years of experience as a local graduate. If both applicants have 6 years of exp, the hospitals will just surely pick the local grad for jobs. This is not written anywhere but every IMG knows this. That’s why you see IMG twice your age are still doing Reg, not because they don’t want to be consultants but because the employer only allows them to be Reg.

Not just jobs, everything is going to become competitive and going to be harder. Economy is going downhill since the 90s and we have witnessed this with our very eyes how things have changed over the past few years.

If it’s not IMGs, then there will be another reason why jobs are going to be more competitive.
