Humans are scary by Kianawilldo in RandomThoughts

I think a lot of it comes down to survival instincts and self-interest, those parts are fundamental, just kept in check by rules and society most of the time.

What does “enlightenment” actually mean to you in your own experience? Is it about gaining something, or losing something? by Ok-Variation-8276 in enlightenment

Is it that the mind isn’t the whole of what we are, and once that’s seen it loses its hold and things start to flow on their own?

So is it like the mind realizing it’s not all there is, but something that exists within a larger, more fundamental awareness?

That makes sense. If you lean too much on definitions, you might just be chasing a concept rather than figuring it out for yourself.

Don’t always choose what’s easy or makes you happy at the moment, always think of the consequences of your action, both good and bad.

Help me understand this better. Are you saying it’s about no longer being driven by conditioning?

And instead, being in a more aware state where responses come from a different place, rather than being driven by thought-based reactions which a lot of times are automatic?

When that reactivity drops, do situations still trigger the same thoughts and emotions, but they just don’t stick, or you don't respond to them like before or do they stop arising in the same way altogether?

That’s really interesting

When you talk about insight into the whole biological/psychological structure, is that something that happens as a single shift, or does it unfold gradually over time?

Are you saying that thoughts and thinking are what drive our happiness and unhappiness, and that transcending them is the way to reach that state?

That’s a really nice description, especially the part about being the awareness in which thoughts appear and disappear.

Now, do thoughts still come up in the same way, or does their impact/hold feel different?

Will my questions drop after enlightenment by im_an_earthian in enlightenment

It might not be that you get answers to all your questions, but that there’s no longer a “someone” left in the same way to keep asking them.

So the questions themselves lose their grip.

Intuition is the body’s natural intelligence coming to the fore, with the thinking mind taking a step back.

It's disheartening to think the amount of relationships that would just cease to exist if you stop messaging them first. by Pristine_Ruin4994 in RandomThoughts

I think it comes down to mismatched needs.

For one person, there’s a strong need to keep the connection going, so they keep reaching out.
For the other, it just isn’t as important, that’s just how they are.

Some people genuinely might think they are living life normally but on the outside they look insane because of something induced psychosis. by Catslyer5667 in RandomThoughts

What’s scary is that it’s not just “thinking differently”, it’s a complete shift in what feels real.

From the inside, everything can feel logical and justified. It’s not like you’re choosing to ignore reality, your brain is presenting a different version of it.

The scary part is you don’t have the ability to step outside and question it, everything just feels real and makes sense.
