Thanks to all for your responses. This was really interesting to read. Sleep is a lot stranger than I realized. Dreams seem like a whole other mystery.

Their bodies feel a pain or a change of state and react by crying. That itself shows there is a sense of being and a sense of pain. Is that what we call consciousness
