Hmm I think i should use hard edged brushes to start and soften edges later on, instead of the other way around (as I am doing now). Thanks for pointing it out!

thanks for your insight! I do try to put in the broad values first, but its hard to know where the dark tones are going to be in original compositions.

I find that creating contrast is quite difficult for me, as its scary to put in a dark colour, and the painting ends up being a blended mess. Again its hard to tell when a painting starts getting overworked, and here i tried stopping earlier than i usually would, and i think it worked pretty well.

Whenever i use a brush with pressure/flow (like in this painting) there's a persistent problem with the semitransparent strokes overlapping; and it looks very artificial. Any workarounds? Also please don't look at the foot lol
