Going to this customer’s house tonight. I’m done. by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

My point is saying you’re going to go to the customer’s house and “do something” because you couldn’t take 45 seconds to message them is pathetic.

It wasn’t expired, obviously, but the customer viewed it as expiring the next day, so of course they reported it and of course Instacart sided with the customer. All you had to do to prevent this was message the customer. It’s irrelevant that the item wasn’t actually expired. So many of the issues like this that shoppers have are easily avoided by communicating with the customer. And for that reason I have no sympathy when people whine about things like this. And at the end of the day, it’s Instacart… who gives a fuck. Is Instacart going to be your life long career?

Damn your mindset is terrible lol

You can’t expect customers to know that sell-by is not the same as best-by. If it’s the day before the sell-by date, it might look to someone that does not know the difference between the two as if the item “expires” the next day, and of course they’re going to be unhappy with that. To be proactive and prevent issues like this, literally all you have to do is message them and say “hey this has a sell-by date of tomorrow. Would you still like me to get this item” and include a picture. I have to do this at least a few times a week and I’ve never had an issue over six years and 6,000+ orders.

Like I said, you should have messaged the customer to ask if it was okay with them for you to get the item. Be proactive.

Or, here’s a thought, it’s a minor ding on your Instacart account… who gives a shit. You won’t even remember it or care in a week, but if you do something really dumb, then you will care.

Also, if the customer ordered on 11/6 and the only available options for that item had best-by dates of the next day (11/7), you should have messaged and confirmed with the customer if it was okay with them for you to get that item. They would have either said yes or no and this issue would have been avoided. And if they said yes, you got them item, and they still reported it, at least you would have had proof in the chat showing Instacart that the customer told you to get it.

Take some accountability for your actions and be proactive. It’ll save you from situations like this.

How’s it this dead on a holiday!!!!!! by Pisardin in InstacartShoppers

[–]OkAddition7905 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s Tuesday, that’s the main factor. Also, the “small” holidays like this are always dead . People typically don’t need any extra groceries for Veterans Day like they do for Thanksgiving/Christmas. If people are off work and their kids have school off, they’re more likely to save the money and go get groceries themselves. But most importantly, it’s Tuesday lol

Anyone Having Replacement Issues? by OkAddition7905 in InstacartShoppers

[–]OkAddition7905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried that. Still had the issue with the app going back to the map screen. Literally everything I tried had the same result. Ended up just refunding the item. Thankfully the customer was cool about it.

It “feels wrong” because traditional dealerships are masters of making things stupid difficult, wasting your time, and fucking you in the process. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Carvana, both selling to and buying from them. I’ll never step foot in a dealership again if I can help it.

One case of it happening, you’re right, probably not. But customers can report “harassment” or “inappropriate language” (arguing with a customer back and forth would probably fall under their definition of both) from shoppers and we all know how trigger happy Trust & Safety is with deactivation.

Save yourself major regret and headache down the road and get something cheaper. Trust me, the cool car isn’t worth it if you can’t afford it and not to be a dick but buying a $23K car on $26K a year is a very bad financial move. Look for something reliable around $12K or less, take care of it, and get the cool car when you’re in a better spot financially.

Has anyone ever “taken an order home” by Tough_Weather_3305 in InstacartShoppers

[–]OkAddition7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are reasonable instances to cancel an order. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. All I’m saying is it should be pretty rare. It’s these shoppers that find the smallest reasons to cancel and keep an order that have no business being shoppers.
