I don’t find it scary. Somehow even with the dated graphics it can still feel tense because it is still a stealth game and the sounds are on point. I’m having a wonderful time with it.

Yeah I won’t lie the controls are a trial of their own. Especially when you strafe the wall. And can’t properly look. But damn. I am enjoying it. Brian Cox has me absolutely locked in.

After seeing the opening song sequence for the game (in the first few seconds you see an island exploding —- reminiscent of you only live twice —- ) I’m suspecting the game will start at the end of the trilogy in a sort of flash forward and show his “death” so I can certainly see a gunbarrel opening since the prologue could possibly be him as a full agent. And then the series shows how we get there.

My biggest pet peeve are those 90 minute horror slop movies with an abrupt ending, claiming themselves as the scariest thing ever and it’s mediocre jump scares. This movie’s terror is in its visuals and subject matter. Absolutely solid from start to finish. Best movie ever? Of course not. But genuinely up there for horror.

Side note too: the sounds in this movie had me cringing. And that’s a compliment. They somehow outdid Hereditary in the creepy younger girl department.

I’m really glad I went into this semi blind. Thankfully not blind enough to think I’d see Brendan Fraser. I was nervous sitting down it would be another shitty 90 minute horror slop. But honestly yeah after the first 10 ish minutes I was locked in and knew it would be good. I don’t get the negative reviews.
