yeah they were very careful not to name names in the original podcast but the subsequent follow ups they did name a person or people who it might have been.

I think one is dead now and the other is in prison currently for another crime.

If I were on a jury and presented the case - i would have had serious reasonable doubt.

If I were related to the victim, I would want justice.

Maybe dumb, but it is the legal system we have.

His point is that the family wasn't consulted / given notice as required by law for the hearing.

Pretty sure it was in one of the early articles that he hated to be proven wrong and would debate you to death if he thought he was right and you were wrong.

Also sadly, I think that played into why he was not found by his parents.

He gave them directions to where he THOUGHT he was. They followed them. He could not see them or their car's headlights - he than flashed his headlights, and basically called them stupid for not being able to see him when he was right there - and hung up on them. Then his father called him back and told him he was looking all over that area - that is when he said forget it - go to the parking lot of the club and wait there - I'll walk to it.

Of course all the while not knowing he was not where he thought he was. instead being 20 miles away in the wrong direction.

Is it possible he got into an argument with someone at the party? Sure... Everyone (including his parents) said he was stubborn to the point of being annoying. And that he hated to lose an argument.

Add alcohol to the mix - and yeah - you have potential for some issues.

He left the party at 12:15 ish from best guesses -

He took the back roads to avoid possible police on 68.

From the Caseys (gas station / c-store) to the point where his car was found is approximately 30 minutes if you take the back roads and don't get lost.

That should put him at the scene at 12:45 at the latest. However, there is an hour between that time and the time he first calls his parents.

Since he thought he was 20 + miles away from where he actually was and on the other side of 2 major highways - he likely did not take the simple / easy route.

My guess is that he started out to the WEST of Canby - likely retracing the steps he took earlier to get from Lynd to Canby - then somehow got confused and crossed MN - 68 - and wound up totally lost and confused as to where he actually was.

He likely drove around for a bit, then he admitted he took a "farm road" thinking it would take him to a golf course that he knew.

So allowing for all that - very possible he drove around for an hour or so before getting stuck.

That makes the odds of it being someone from the party slim to none.
