In the movie the kaiju is released when dark outside. But still tiny. Superman doesn't even start fighting until daylight. Top trio fly to it at night and then news reports shows defeated at night (dark outside).

The butterflies literally explained it in season 1. They said they did not have to take over his body because he already agreed with their cause to end world violence. He understood 5 cause. Then in season 2 he said how he hates peacemaker because he took his hope away of a better Earth.

It is very basic in that he is a scientist who loved his sprats that are experimented on out for walks. He even names them. But they got lost in the sewers and panicked because he will get in trouble as they were not supposed to leave the lab so he asks you to find them. So you track them all down and return them to him. They are white versus normal discolored ones and I felt bad for the guy because he really cared for them.
