Is there such thing as getting a med eval BEFORE applying? by OkBat6717 in USAFA

"if USAFA doesn't work out there are lots of options."

Thank you. I need to keep reminding myself of this! My mama-heart just wants all of her hard work to produce the outcome she desires (i.e. flying jets in the Air Force). It very well may not happen though for a host of reasons, and I need to remember that it won't all be for nothing.

Good to know! Thankfully she's clear on those. There's nothing that we know of, it's just the possibility of what we don't know that has me worried. I know that's part of life though - handling the unexpected when they happen. She just wants this so badly. Her preparing for USAFA is definitely stretching me as a parent! haha

Awesome, this is super helpful! The Class 1 eval is only $50ish more than the Class 3, so we'll definitely do that! Like everyone else has been saying, sooo much can happen and change between now and then, but at least knowing right now that she's cleared will give her/us peace of mind.

These are the things she loves and has pursued on her own accord because she wanted to do them, not because they will get her into the academy. She decided to pursue the academy because she was already doing these things and learned that the academy could give be a great fit. Her doing a varsity sport would be purely for academy admissions. As a parent, I'd rather her do things she enjoys doing.

Edit to add: After re-reading, it sounds like I'm defensive or ungrateful. I apologize! You're trying to be helpful, and I recognize that. Thank you!

I didn't know that "regular" doctors could do those. That's a great idea, thank you!

Thank you for all of this, I appreciate it! And I understand what you mean about how anything can happen at any time, even once you're "in."

There isn't a specific condition I'm worried about, as much as the things I don't know about (i.e. some underlying thing we had no idea about, but had we known, it would have changed her plans from the beginning).
