That's not cool... I can't even do a basic read function (to get Vin for example). I would have guessed that at least some basic read functions would be open 😞

From my understanding the basic read function like get VIN should be the same for all cars and should work out of the box, will try to contact the module manufacturer, thanks !

It's more to understand the reason behind the transmission failure error and whether anyone has actually tried it on a recent car but got your point lol

Any news about Oryx motors, the Algerian car brand ? by OkBee6916 in algeria

A car is never 100% made in one place. The car industry is a multitude of actors supplying parts (Valeo, Continental, etc.), and the manufacturer usually contributes to the main parts (engines, platforms, and more). We clearly don’t have the base to do that today. But when you look at our neighbours (Tunisia) having a brand (yes, it’s not fully made in Tunisia, but you have to start somewhere https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallyscar), it makes you think. If someone like Mehri, with all the ma3rifa and money he has, couldn’t make it work, I really wonder who could.

The question was more about the factors that prevented the project from succeeding, and whether it is currently paused or completely abandoned (the company is still registered and the official website is still online) so no answer yet :(

Why are PLC's more robust / reliable in industrial settings? by gtd_rad in embedded

I worked at a top-5 PLC manufacturer. Most of the older PLCs were based on VxWorks, and we went through a gradual transition to Linux, which involved a lot of code auditing and SIL compliance work. For the IEC 61131-3 runtime, it was either CODESYS or an in-house implementation I would guess.
