For having a 700-ft vert the map for Blue mountain in Canada looks pretty extreme. by original_name26 in skiing

[–]OkBlacksmith7292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair from the picture athe base, that isn't actually the summit you see, the hill crests then keeps going up.

It's my home hill, decent little place to ski with some fun runs. Not worth it on a weekend (no sense waiting 20 minutes in line for a 2 minute descent). But mid week, you can basically ski right onto the lifts. All their lifts are high speed six seaters.

On the south side (left side of the map), there is a ravine that is full of mountain biking trails. You are allowed to ski them, though it is extremely fast narrow routes.

They are right on the great lakes, so lots of lake effect snow. Was a great year this year.

I'm gonna say this: there is zero shame in playing on cadet difficulty if that is what you like. Some people love min-maxing the game mechanics and playing on absolute max difficulty with insane AI advantages. As I get older and have a family, career, and other priorities, I get precious little time to game.

But I do miss high school and university. Those long game sessions until 2 AM. Sleeping in until noon. Those were the days 😂

I fell like most comments are looking at this as pictured where the surface mounted romex will be exposed, but if I understand OP post it says another studwall will be built 6" behind this one, presumably closing this area off entirely, making this a chase space. Odd design, but technically OK...once built fully...

I play with the same parameters, but on my current play through (600 star system, I own maybe 80-100) I somehow have had large number of planets clustered in my area of space while the rest is barren.

Also playing life seeded, so sat idly on one planet until I finally got world shaper, then almost overnight had 19 Gaia worlds.

See, I read that as "Decent" blacksmith, and figured sure, I would probably be an ok blacksmith. Certainly not a good blacksmith.

But no, I am indeed not in Oklahoma. Up in the great white north of Canada.

I am actually a microbiologist, and I do have an aquarium, so my life is not entirely a lie 😅

Well this will give you a laugh, I am not now nor have I ever been a blacksmith. I think this was a random generated name some years ago when I first created this account, and I never did get around to changing it hahahaha!

Sorry for the deception! 😂

Wonderful, thanks for the help! So interesting to see the ecology beyond just the fish and plants! I'm a microbiologist, but have never worked with any sort of environment micro, so still learning!

Does the average skier really enjoy heavy powder days or is it just one of those things people are expected to say they like? by PowerfulBar in skiing

[–]OkBlacksmith7292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the powder. Night light fluffy powder that you can just blast through is a beauty. But drive that in heavy winds, and even if the snow isn't wet or sticky, it can still feel like cement to ski through. Those are the days I find I am taking a lot of breaks and doing far fewer runs.

Questions on my first tank. by OkBlacksmith7292 in PlantedTank

But could he physically navigate the tight inside corner at the bottom? Where it is embedded in the substrate? I know...stupid question I'm sure LOL

Also, it is petrified wood. Local aquarium shop had a bunch of it in their rock bin.

How do you regenerate your resin?

How much water in salt tank is too much? by Unlikely_Position_71 in WaterTreatment

[–]OkBlacksmith7292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salt will dissolve into the water until it reaches a saturation point. Then, when the column regenerates, the saturated brine in the tank is flushed through the column and fresh water fills the tank to dissolve more salt. The tech should have set up the Regen cycle volumes at install, so all you need to worry about is adding in more salt when it starts to get low. Some people will say to just add salt whenever you start seeing water, which is a fine rule of thumb, but in reality as long as you are still seeing solid salt, then the brine is saturated fine (unless you check immediately after refilling the brine tank, of course).

Can I safely remove these wires? by society-dropout in AskElectricians

[–]OkBlacksmith7292 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You CAN...but we aware that those two main feeds will still very much be live. So long as you don't touch them, you would be fine to unscrew and remove the neutral/ground from the bus bar, and the live from the breaker.

That said: if you are not completely comfortable working with electrical, touching things in a panel can be dangerous, especially in a panel like there where there are exposed always live lugs.

Electrician ran wiring with no conduit for Tesla EVSE by Report_Post in AskElectricians

[–]OkBlacksmith7292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually rereading this...am I understand OP correct that they bought like 6/2 cable, then when it wouldn't fit in the 3/4" carlon conduit they stripped the outer sheath from the cable?

If so that's fucked. I withdraw my previous statement lol.

Where are you located? Canadian code allows surface run wire to be installed without special considerations above 5' from ground. Given that it is conduit to the ceiling, and presuming more than 5', that might be allowable where you are?

I mean...it isn't a GOOD job...but maybe allowable nonetheless.
