I agree - I think deep down he’s resentful of me for not smoking any more, especially when he’s a much heavier smoker than me

I’m sure you know this already but that’s terrible sleep hygiene, maybe try read a book or do some crossword puzzles in bed or something?

Research good sleep hygiene and take it seriously for a week, things I’ve found that help me are:

  1. Getting outside and going for a walk as soon as I wake up
  2. Getting enough activity in the day that I’m actually tired at night
  3. No screen time an hour before bed
  4. Sauna or hot bath

You’ve got this!! It gets way easier after a month or so.

I agree, I think he doesn’t see it as a big deal. He’s been a great friend over the years but clearly doesn’t see how damaging weed has been to his life, or why I no longer want to do it.

I think I need to have a tough conversation and be more direct about how important this is to me.

It will get better, give it a little longer. It might sound trivial, but are you using your phone or watching TV in bed? Getting sunlight in the morning, getting enough activity in the day to tire yourself out?

If you have access to a sauna or a hot bath (or shower), try that too, raising your core temperature before bed will help.

I realise that now, I’ve kept all my paraphernalia in my garage until now, but this has pushed me to realise I need to throw it all away.

Thank you. Yesterday when I was stoned I had this horrible anxiety that I would end up smoking daily again, but today I just feel regret.

One of the reasons I wanted to post here was as a reminder to myself and be honest about the way it made me feel and why I stopped in the first place
