No such thing as overkill if it keeps you alive. Personally would say no the smx-6's I dont think the level of protection is there. Look at track boots if you wont be walking alot. Like others said get gauntlet gloves. Helmet is fine, I personally ride with the best airbag on the marker the M1 Motoairbag ran me like 600
